Get On The List

Kelly Lee Owens announces new album ‘Dreamstate’

Over two years since her previous album release, Welsh electronic musician and producer Kelly Lee Owens has shared details of her fourth studio album, Dreamstate. Alongside the announcement, Owens also unveiled the album’s lead single, the intimate electro song ‘Love You Got’, which certainly succeeds in building excitement for the long-awaited album.

Dreamstate is set to be the first album release on DH2 records, the brand new Dirty Hit Records imprint which focuses entirely on electronic music. Owens performed some of her upcoming material at the label’s launch party in Brixton on July 11th alongside Oscar Farrell, TimFromTheHouse and The 1975’s George Daniel, who is reportedly the driving force behind DH2.

Seemingly, Daniel will also have a hand in the production of Dreamstate. In fact, the album features multiple writing and production credits for the likes of Bicep and Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers. Owens’ musical career thus far has often been noted for its stunning collaborations, particularly her remix of Björk’s ‘Arisen My Senses’

Owens has been building the suspense for a new release for a while, particularly during her recent performance at Glastonbury Festival. The musician and producer is also set to embark upon a variety of support dates for the likes of Bicep and The Chemical Brothers, which likely goes to explain their involvement in the production of Dreamstate.

According to Owens, per a press release, the new album is “the sound of a person letting loose and letting go while encouraging everyone else to do the same”. The release of ‘Love You Got’ as a single certainly seems to support that claim. On the track, Owens is refreshingly candid in her songwriting, yet the song does not lose the danceability and electro goodness that we have all come to expect from the Welsh songwriter.

Inspired by her “inner evolution”, it is likely that the rest of Dreamstate will follow a similar atmosphere and ethos to that created on ‘Love You Got’. With various tour dates on the way, including a DJ set at All Points East in London and more shows to be announced, it is likely that Dreamstate will be among the most hotly anticipated releases of the year, at least among electro obsessives.

Dreamstate is set to be released on October 18th via DH2 Records. For fans of physical media, Owen’s album will also be released on vinyl, cassette and CD, in addition to online streaming services.
