One observation we at Time Under Tension had following our recent media & marketing industry survey, conducted in partnership with #humAIn Unmade, was the disconnect between media and marketing industry leaders, and the sentiment that seems to be coming through from their teams. One question in our survey is focused on how optimistic respondents feel about this new era of #GenAI. The emerging results are pretty stark, with more senior folks reporting they have a reasonable sense of optimism about the future of the industry, but younger team members (under 34yo) feeling a lot less optimistic. This also correlates with findings in the survey - respondents feel like there's not enough support from their organisations in the adoption of GenAI, and senior leaders report higher levels of familiarity with and adoption of AI than their teams who are actually doing the work. The survey hints at a cautionary tale for industry leaders: You may see #GenAI as a growth opportunity as well as an opportunity for greater efficiency and productivity, but your teams may be feeling a lot more apprehensive about the changes AI brings to the workplace, and may be feeling left behind by the pace of change. It's important to enable your teams with quality training, tools, processes and policies - If you're not sure how, reach out to specialist AI agencies like ours (and many others).
