The Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox had a marathon of a game going, until the 14th inning.

All knotted up at 4-4, White Sox skipper Robin Ventura pulled Daniel Webb off the mound, but he didn’t go to his bullpen. Instead, Ventura handed the ball off to Leury Garcia, the White Sox backup second baseman.

As Chicago’s ninth pitcher of the night, Garcia threw 25 pitches in the inning, 11 for strikes. Not bad for an infielder, right? …Right? (GIF via @nick_pants)

Garcia retired his first two hitters. Then it got interesting. After walking his next two batters, Garcia gave up a two-run double to Jackie Bradley Jr., which would ultimately decide the game.

But don’t worry Leury, nobody was still in the stands at 1 a.m. to see it.
