Emotions were high at the end of Monday’s San Jose Sharks-Los Angeles Kings game.
The Kings were on their way to completing a comeback from a 3-0 series deficit to force a Game 7. A 1-1 third-period tie became 4-1 Kings on a controversial go-ahead goal by Justin Williams and two quick scores by Anze Kopitar. Fights broke out as message setting ruled.
But we certainly didn’t expect to see goalie Jonathan Quick going after 6-4 Joe Thornton after the Sharks captain knocked over Kings defenseman Drew Doughty.
Naturally, Kings teammates had to jump in to protect their goalie and a scrum broke out, bringing the total number of penalty minutes in the third period to 80.
Brown on Quick going at it w/ Thornton – ‘That’s Quickie in a nutshell. Normally he has a calm demeanor. Every once in a while he loses it’

Game 7 should be interesting.
