Gerald Green escapes tough defense by throwing an alley-oop to himself

Phoenix Suns guard Gerald Green was forced to pick up his dribble near the free-throw line, right on the elbow, and a good ways from the basket. He was on an island in there with no teammates to pass to. The Orlando Magic could not have handled it any better.

What they didn’t account for was Gerald Green passing the ball off the backboard to himself.

What more could they do, short of bear-hugging him and holding him to the floor?

Nothing. This isn’t the first time Green’s done something like this, and it probably won’t be the last. He did the exact same thing against the Portland Trail Blazers last season.
