No game this college football bowl season has a chance to be as entertaining as the Belk Bowl’s exchange with @FauxPelini.

The folks running the Belk Bowl’s Twitter account reached out to @FauxPelini, the popular parody account of the former Nebraska coach, asking if he was interested in coming for the Dec. 30 game between Georgia and Louisville. The anonymous Nebraska fan who runs @FauxPelini responded, setting off a hilarious back-and-forth.

Sadly, the cat from @FauxPelini’s avatar is not. Neither, apparently, is Carl, Pelini’s brother and his much-maligned former defensive coordinator. But that didn’t seem to be as much of a deal-breaker as whether the cat – and Carl – were house trained.

And declawed.

It doesn’t matter that few people outside of the SEC and ACC know who Belk, the bowl’s sponsor, is. (And even that’s questionable.) Or that it’s not played on New Year’s Day. The Belk Bowl is now officially our favorite.
