Michigan fired former head coach Brady Hoke in early December after a miserable season, and the Wolverines are making a strong run at current 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh as a replacement. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Michigan has offered Harbaugh a six-year, $48 million dollar deal to coach the Wolverines, which could make him the the highest-paid football coach in the United States.

Four-time national champion Nick Saban is currently the highest paid coach in college football, with an annual total salary of $7,160,187. Saban is the only college coach earning more than $6 million annually in total pay. Hoke ranked 30th nationally in 2014 with a salary of $2,856,000. Sean Payton, the highest-paid coach in the NFL, makes a reported $8 million per year.
