Michigan is understandably excited to welcome Jim Harbaugh to Ann Arbor. The former coach of the San Francisco 49ers is expected to be announced as the university’s newest football coach on Tuesday, which coincides with with Michigan basketball game.

The UM student body is taking full advantage of this joyous occasion to honor their new coach in the most fitting of ways.

Harbaugh’s love affair with khakis has been well documented over the years. He admitted to buying Walmart khakis for $8 back in January. It drives his wife crazy. One Walmart shopper actually caught Harbaugh in the act of buying said khakis. And finally, a pair of Harbaugh’s $8 khakis was at one point selling for $500.

Now, the khakis have come to Michigan, and as a result, students will be wearing their finest Dockers on Tuesday. College is a time where many youths experiment with their fashion choices. My sophomore year, I wore a floppy beanie for the entire month of August for reasons I still don’t fully understand.

Is Harbaugh’s arrival the sign of a new trend in the 18-23 demographic? Can we expect to see college campuses littered in their pleated finest from now on?

One can only hope.
