After several months of rumors regarding his future, the New York Jets finally fired head coach Rex Ryan Monday morning, ending his six-year tenure with the team.

Ryan led the Jets to the AFC title game in his first two seasons but failed to get them past .500 in his final four seasons, with them dropping to 4-12 in 2014. The 52-year-old coach’s outsized personality, which made him a constant backpage fixture in New York’s daily papers, will likely give him access to a number of TV gigs should he choose to go that route. It’s also not hard to see him landing a defensive coordinator job if he doesn’t end up getting one of the other vacant NFL head coaching openings popping up this week.

So while we look forward to having Ryan around in some capacity next season, it’s time to bid farewell to his reign in the Big Apple with this look at seven of his most entertaining moments from his run with the Jets.

1) He got into a war of words with Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder before he ever coached a game

2) “Let’s go eat a [expletive] snack!”

Ryan’s motivational tactics were one of the reasons that the 2010 Jets season of Hard Knocks proved to be one of the most entertaining ones in the history of the HBO series. [Warning: clip contains explicit language]

3) The abundance of unique New York sports page cover stories

Ryan updated reporters on the status of his Mark Sanchez tattoo during last March’s annual NFL meetings.

4) He dressed like his twin brother at a press conference before the Jets played Rob’s Browns defense in 2010.

5) He posed as a reporter during training camp in August

6) He ran with the bulls in Pamplona

7) He made some amazing proclamations, even if they never ended up coming true

According to former running back LaDainian Tomlinson, Ryan fired up the team before a Patriots game several years ago by telling them he was going to set the tone by punching Bill Belichick in the face at midfield. He guaranteed a Super Bowl win multiple times during his tenure. And then there was the time in 2010 he told a crowd at a mixed martial arts event in Miami that the Jets were going to beat the Dolphins twice in the upcoming season, playfully giving a few hecklers the finger afterward.
