Patrick Kaleta and Jared Cowen got into it during a Monday night game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators, and things got a little…weird.

During this six second highlight, where Kaleta seems to briefly forget who he’s fighting and punches himself in the face.

What would cause someone to punch themselves in the face?

Maybe Kaleta did it for the intimidation factor. Like a “if I’m willing to do this to myself, imagine what I’ll do to you” sort of thing in an effort to ‘out-crazy’ Cowen.

It didn’t really work. Cowen kept on Kaleta, and later on in the third period, checked him hard into the boards.

Kaleta would have to be helped off the ice and into the locker room.
