Doug McDermott had to tackle Hassan Whiteside to stop him from dunking

Hassan Whiteside was about to rise up for a dunk vs. the Bulls on Thursday night with the game tied 69-69, but Doug McDermott wasn’t about to let him score so easily.

McDermott grabbed Whiteside to make sure he definitely wouldn’t have any shot at a dunk. However, the momentum of the two of them resulted in them crashing to the floor together. It almost looked like a full-on tackle, though it’s obvious McDermott meant no harm.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured and no tempers flared to escalate the situation. McDermott was given a Flagrant 1. And although Whiteside was grabbing his elbow right after the play, he made both of his free throws and stayed in the game.
