A Red Wings fan threw an octopus on the ice in Boston ... with Detroit losing 5-1

The Detroit Red Wings were down big to the Bruins in Boston on Thursday, but one Red Wings fan just had to throw an octopus on the ice.

This happened with the Red Wings trailing 5-1 on the road late in the third period, which is the complete opposite of the ideal time and place to throw an octopus onto the ice.

But I can understand the temptation. This fan brought a dead octopus with him into TD Bank Garden. He likely expected the Red Wings to win, but when that wasn’t going to happen, the realization that he was stuck with a dead octopus took over. What was he supposed to do with a dead octopus?

So, he reacted in the way he had initially planned. It didn’t matter that the Red Wings were losing.

Unfortunately for this fan, Boston does not condone the throwing of octopi onto the ice.
