Vin Scully retells story of how Madison Bumgarner learned about toughness from a baby rabbit

This story was told in the fantastic Madison Bumgarner profile that Tom Verducci wrote for Sports Illustrated in 2014. It was also told by Vin Scully last year while Bumgarner was pitching in September.

But Scully told it again on Friday night in the Giants-Dodgers game, and this may be his last time telling it, since he’s retiring after this season, so here it is: The story of how Bumgarner hacked a snake to death, then his wife found a rabbit alive inside the snake and nursed the rabbit back to health, as Bumgarner marveled at the rabbit’s toughness.

@Minor_Leaguer transcribed how Scully told Bumgarner’s miraculous snake-rabbit story this time around:

Vin Scully forever.
