However, I do see the image in another reader and confirmed that it is communicated as part of the XML file so I suspect it would be possible to support.

@brentsimmons Is there a relatively straight-forward/uncompromising change Mastodon could make to their RSS feed that would make these photos appear through another supported mechanism? If so, I could work on a patch from the Mastodon side of things.

Thanks for NewNewsWire. I switched from Feedly six months ago, as I had become increasingly frustrated with its UI quirks and not being able to just read in peace. I've never felt more relieved after a switch then with NNW. I've been more satisfied with this app than any app of any kind I can remember. Keep being awesome! 👍

If the image were included as part of the description element — as an img tag in the article text — then it would work fine and would be most widely compatible with all RSS readers.
