Some feeds use <media:content> element to provide media, which in most cases are featured images. In some feeds that only provide partial content, it will be very monotonous if the support of this featured image is missing.

This would also solve my issue:
Feeds from youtube channels do not show any content if added directly, and ommit the embedded video when going via Feedly.
On Feedly itself, it shows the embedded video.

Feed url as example: https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UCsXVk37bltHxD1rDPwtNM8Q

NNW 5.0.5 (Build 56) iOS

Part that does not get rendered is embedded in a media:content element.

It looks like engadget.com/rss.xml recently switched to using media:content tags for their news articles which explains why the images from that feed stopped appearing on NNW iOS, and macOS 5.x and 6.x

Youtube feeds like this one https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UCH4BNI0-FOK2dMXoFtViWHw do not show video preview, is it related to this problem?

@jrmgx Yes, it is the same thing.

Mastodon supports RSS feeds (which is awesome). Unfortunately, NNW doesn't render images in any of the feeds I've subscribed to. This leads to a poor reading experience including frequent seemingly blank posts or missing context on posts. I'm assuming this is related to this issue?

I'd like to keep up-to-date with development on this but I'm unsure the best way to do so. Following a bunch of different related GitHub Issues isn't ideal. Does NNW have a roadmap anywhere?

Considering this issue is four years old now: is there something fundamental preventing implementation of the media display?

It’s just a matter of other features having priority. And the fact that we’re slow! (Volunteers working in their spare time.)
