Safari extension button does not function until the page is reloaded in a new tab #4208

For me, when using the Safari extension on macOS Ventura, Safari 17.3, after enabling the extension for a particular website, the button does not function until the page is reloaded in a new tab. This lead me to suspect the feature didn't work at all. I'm glad I figured out the workaround, but not ideal. (Fantastic feature!)

I have a similar problem on iPad Air 3 iPadOS 17.3.1.

If I tap the share icon lower right, and tap the icon for my preferrred browser (Brave) the web page opens in Brave. When I return to NetNewsWire, the pop up showing the share options for that story is still there, even when I move to subsequent items in the feed list. If I three-finger-swipe back to the page in Brave, wait least three seconds, and swipe back, the options popup closes.

Oddly, for some sites (such as abc.net.au) this doesn’t happen if I wait for the original page to load completely before I return to NetNewsWire. For others (such as guardian.com) the popup persists even after the page loads completely.
