This month our reporting methodology changed slightly due to a change in what logging was applied to the
cdnjs.cloudflare.com subdomain. We no longer hold 100% log data for 7 days, so now only have the monthly 1% sample
data available to report with.
cdnjs served nearly 197 billion requests in October 2020. 🖥
cdnjs used a massive consumption of 3.64 PB of data to serve these requests this month. 📤
That's over 117 terabytes of data and 6.3 billion requests each day (averaged). 🤯
In October, each request to cdnjs used only 18.51 KB of data on average. 🔍
Library highlights
The top resource on cdnjs this month was jQuery (3.3.1/jquery.min.js) once again with over 5.11 billion requests to
that asset.
This is down compared to the massive 10.2 billion requests that were seen in September, and likely explains the dip
seen in overall requests to cdnjs compared to last month. The number of requests is now far similar to what was seen
two months ago, where this asset received 5.17 billion requests.
All the other top resources changed this month, with FontAwesome (4.7.0/css/font-awesome.min.css) moving from 4th to
2nd, with 4.7 billion requests.
In third place this month was jQuery MouseWheel (3.1.13/jquery.mousewheel.min.js), down from second place last
month, with 3.8 billion requests to the file. FontAwesome (4.7.0/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff2) was a new entry in
the top five this month, a second file for the 4.7.0 version of FontAwesome.
Looking at the top libraries overall based on the top 100 assets, jQuery remained at the top with 12.8 billion
requests across 11 files in the top 100 resources.
In second place overall was GSAP, with 16 files across 13 different versions in the top 100 resources, totalling
11.8 billion requests and consuming 491 TB of bandwidth. This was followed by FontAwesome in third with 11 billion
requests and CookieConsent2 in fourth with 7.5 billion.

Total number of requests
The first important stat that we are given is the total number of requests sent to cdnjs.cloudflare.com.
Cloudflare provides this number to us at a 1% sample for the whole month, giving 1,966,494,090 at 1%.
When multiplied up to 100%, this results in cdnjs serving approximately 196,649,409,000 requests in October.
Nearly 197 billion requests or approximately 6.3 billion requests every single day of October. 📈
This was down compared to the reported 223 billion last month, but still higher than previous months, such as the 188
billion requests seen in August. Overall, we continue to see growth in requests over the month, with a 13% increase in
requests compared to October 2019.
Total bandwidth usage
Another great stat that Cloudflare has given us again is the bandwidth usage for the cdnjs.cloudflare.com domain.
This number, like total requests, is provided at a 1% sample for the month and in gigabytes: 36,397.08 GB.
When multiplied up to be 100%, this produces the estimate of 3,639,708.0 GB of bandwidth used for this month by
cdnjs, or 3.64 PB.
This gives cdnjs a massive bandwidth consumption of 3.64 petabytes of data for requests this month. 🤯
Similar to the total number of requests on cdnjs this month, our consumed bandwidth was lower than last month, going
from 3.9 PB to 3.6 PB. However, compared to two months ago where we had 3.4 PB, we see a steady increase in the
bandwidth consumed that roughly matches the continued growth in requests to cdnjs.
