BUILD TRANSNATIONAL CROSS-SECTOR COALITIONS

Work with communities and transnational networks of anti-racist and human rights advocates to build power and protect inclusive societies.

GPAHE holds among its most important values the importance of collaboration and strong, diverse, multi-sector coalitions to effect sustainable change. We deeply believe in information sharing and bolstering ally activities. Experts in multiple countries have told us that they feel stymied by the inclination of countries to stop their work at the border when hate and far-right movements are clearly transnational. Through leading and participating in multinational coalitions of activists and experts, we work to specifically prevent the spread of white supremacist and other bigoted ideologies that harm people and lead to violence and terrorism.

In GPAHE’s work to build and protect inclusive societies, we are active in a number of transnational coalitions including the International Network Against Cyber Hate (INACH), Change the Terms, international networks strategizing against far-right extremism, and the Christchurch Call Advisory Network, comprised of governments, civil society and tech companies across the globe to stop the use of online spaces to inspire and coordinate violence and terrorism. In additional efforts to build power across borders, we lead a growing international coalition, the Global Alliance Against Digital Hate and Extremism (GAADHE), to hold tech companies accountable for their actions no matter the language or geographic location. Through GAADHE our top priorities are to end exemptions from content moderation for the politically powerful and improve definitions of “dangerous individual and organization” designations and ensure their enforcement.
