Shot-by-shot recap of Tiger Woods' even par 72 Saturday at The Players Championship

Jasen Vinlove/USA TODAY Sports

Tiger Woods had a really good thing going on Friday before a quadruple-bogey seven at No. 17, the famous island green at TPC Sawgrass.

Woods shot a 1-under 71 to make the cut at 3-under par, and was back on the course for moving day Saturday at The Players Championship. The two-time Players champion teed off alongside Kevin Na at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Check out our shot-by-shot analysis of Woods’ third round below:

Hole 18: Par 4, 467 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger cooked this one. He’s in the fairway way down on the right side.

APPROACH SHOT: Little long for Tiger here with his second shot. He finds the bunker behind the green.

AROUND THE GREEN: Useful little pitch from the sand gets inside three feet, and Tiger taps in for par to close out an even par 72.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 18 (3-under overall, T-41).

Hole 17: Par 3, 127 yards

OFF THE TEE: After his quadruple-bogey seven yesterday, Tiger floats this one high in the air and sticks it inside 5 feet for another birdie chance. TW loves the moment.

ON THE GREEN: After Kevin Na did a quick-pick of his ball from the hole after making birdie, Woods followed suit with a big smile. It was a great moment from two players who struggled all day.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 17 (3-under overall)

Hole 16: Par 5, 537 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger bombed this one down the right side of the fairway, and it takes a big kick and skips into the rough.

APPROACH SHOT: Decent lie from the rough and Tiger took a big cut here. He lands this one in the rough to the left of the green, and it skips into the fairway just off the green.

AROUND THE GREEN: Tiger played this chip pretty well, taking it along the slop of the green and carrying it to inside 10 feet for birdie.

ON THE GREEN: Well how about that! Tiger drops the putt for a much-needed birdie. Off to No. 17.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-over thru 16 (2-under overall)

Hole 15: Par 4, 449 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger hammered his drive down the right center of the fairway here. Solid shot.

APPROACH SHOT: Couldn’t do much better here. The pin is on the front right of the green, guarded by two small bunkers. 30 foot putt for birdie awaits.

ON THE GREEN: Tough putt to make, and he lags this one up inside 5 feet for a, you guessed it, two-putt par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-over thru 15 (1-under overall)

Hole 14: Par 4, 468 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger will be playing his second shot from the rough after his driver off the tee just misses to the right. He was tracking down the right side of the fairway, but a big kick took his ball to the thick stuff.

APPROACH SHOT: Tough to control shots coming from the rough, but Tiger did a great job to get this one to the green. He lands it near the cup, but the ball’s momentum carries it 25 feet beyond the cup.

ON THE GREEN: Another good roll at the cup just misses. What does he have to do to get a putt to drop?! Par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-over thru 14 (1-under overall)

Hole 13: Par 3, 188 yards

OFF THE TEE: TW’s safely on the green, inside 30 feet for another birdie chance.

ON THE GREEN: Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but two-putt par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-over thru 13 (1-under overall)

Hole 12: Par 4, 281 yards

OFF THE TEE: Driver here for Tiger and he stared this one down the whole way. He lands it on the green and he’ll have a long putt for eagle awaiting.

ON THE GREEN: Just outside 30 feet for Tiger and he didn’t really commit to this one. Lags it up inside a few feet for a two-putt birdie, his first of the day.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-over thru 12 (1-under overall)

HOLE 11: Par 5, 546 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger’s tee shot finds the fairway bunker. Not ideal.

APPROACH SHOT: He went for this one from the sand and knocked it up near the green, in a small bunker guarding the front of the dance floor.

AROUND THE GREEN: Not a lot of green to work with so Tiger does his best to get it out and keep it inside 15 feet for a birdie chance.

ON THE GREEN: Tiger can’t buy a putt today. That’s another disappointing par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3-over thru 11 (Even overall)

Hole 10: Par 4, 419 yards

OFF THE TEE: Really long wait on No. 10 but when he finally hit Tiger found the first-cut rough. Shouldn’t be an issue.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger just misses the bunker guarding the front-right side of the green. Just can’t seem to get dialed in today.

AROUND THE GREEN: He almost holes this out and gets it to just a few feet for a tap-in par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3-over thru 10 (Even overall)

Hole 9: Par 5, 586 yards

OFF THE TEE: Smooth club twirl for Tiger to close out the front nine. He striped a drive down the middle of the fairway.

SECOND SHOT: Tiger lays up inside 90 yards and has a chance to get up-and-down and score for the first time today.

APPROACH SHOT: Great shot into the green lands and puts on the brakes, just inside 10 feet. A perfect set-up for birdie.

ON THE GREEN: Another lipped edge. This has been tough to watch.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3-over thru 9 (Even overall)

Hole 8: Par 3, 238 yards

OFF THE TEE: Too much juice here from the Big Cat. He had one club too much and this one goes off the back of the green.

AROUND THE GREEN: Tiger actually found a bunker, and he had a decent lie, but this one had too much steam coming out and rolls 15 feet past the hole.

ON THE GREEN: Par putt didn’t get to the cup. That’s another disappointing bogey. It’s Moving Day, and Tiger’s going the wrong way.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 3-over thru 8 (Even overall)

Hole 7: Par 4, 432 yards

OFF THE TEE: After a long wait on the tee, Tiger finds the right fairway on seven.

APPROACH SHOT: His shot to the green finds the right greenside bunker. He’s pin-high, with decent green to work with, but there’s a downhill slope between his ball and the hole.

AROUND THE GREEN: Useful out from the beach gets inside a few feet. Solid.

ON THE GREEN: Nothing to see: tap-in par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-over thru 7 (1-under overall)

Hole 6: Par 4, 390 yards

OFF THE TEE: Fairway metal is crushed down the left side of the fairway. Great shot.

APPROACH SHOT: Good look here for Tiger who stops this one on a dime around 10 feet from the cup. He needs this one to fall.

ON THE GREEN: 12 feet again, and this one catches the edge. Crushing miss. You know what’s coming: two-putt par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-over thru 6 (1-under overall)

Hole 5: Par 4, 471 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger finds the fairway bunker to the right on the tricky No. 5.

APPROACH SHOT: There it is. His shot from the beach was solid, landing on the green inside 5 feet and rolling a bit, closer to 10 feet from the cup.

ON THE GREEN: From 12 feet, Tiger comes up empty for birdie. Turned quickly at the end. Two-putt par again.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-over thru 5 (1-under overall)

Hole 4: Par 4, 371 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger finds the fairway here. Hopefully that momentum can get him back on track here.

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger’s best shot today by far (though that isn’t saying much). He lands his ball right of the green, and it takes a little kick and runs down the slope onto the green. He’s inside 10 feet for a much-needed birdie.

ON THE GREEN: Tiger had plenty of pace for the putt but didn’t have the line. Two-putt par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-over thru 4 (1-under overall)

Hole 3: Par 3, 155 yards

OFF THE TEE: Tiger didn’t like this one and, frankly, he shouldn’t. He misses left, just avoiding a bunker.

AROUND THE GREEN: Tiger hits a chip into the hill in front of the green and pops this one up. It released towards the hole but checks up six feet short of the cup. Not bad from there.

ON THE GREEN: He’s really taking it on the chin early today. Tiger misses the par putt and taps in for bogey again.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-over thru 3 (1-under overall)

Hole 2: Par 5, 540 yards

OFF THE TEE: Fairway metal off the tee for Tiger on No. 2 and he finds the right rough. He’s 0-3 finding the fairway here this week (left rough previous two days).

APPROACH SHOT: Tiger took a rip at this one, but it looks like he’s in the fairway bunker short of the green.

AROUND THE GREEN: Poor bunker shot here from Tiger comes up short, resting on the fringe about 50-some feet from the back pin location.

ON THE GREEN: It was a long putt downhill that Tiger just tapped and it took off. It slowed down considerably as it got to the hole, coming up about five feet short. Not bad. No dice on the par putt, leaving a tap-in bogey.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1-over thru 2 (2-under overall)

Hole 1: Par 4, 440 yards

OFF THE TEE: TW’s first tee shot on Moving Day paints the fairway. Here we go!

APPROACH SHOT: Pretty good shot here from Tiger. He finds the green and will have an uphill putt for birdie from inside 20 feet.

ON THE GREEN: Not a bad effort here, just couldn’t get it to drop. Two-putt par to start the day.

TIGER ON THE DAY: Even thru 1 (3-under overall)
