In Traditional Latin Mass…

In traditional Latin Mass, there is the reality and the sacredness of Christ’s sacrifice. The prayers are in Latin, there is silence, there is Gregorian chant, correct rubrics etc. and each prayer and gesture has ancient lineage. In offering the sacrifice of the Mass, the priest is facing the tabernacle and not the people. The center is God, not man.

In traditional Latin Mass, we are kneeling when receiving the most holy Eucharist because we believe that the Eucharist is truly God and we express this by kneeling in adoration.

In traditional Latin Mass, we receive the Eucharist on the tongue and not by our hands, to show that we are little and not worthy to touch it, and that we are dependent on God. There is nothing more lovable, more precious and more vulnerable than the Holy Eucharist. This is why only the consecrated hands of the priests may touch the Holy Eucharist and not by any other ministers (except by extraordinary ministers, e.g. deacons ).

In traditional Latin Mass, as a sign of respect and belief in the holy Eucharist, if men have hats, they remove it and women wear a veil. Both men and women with their decent clothes do these things to honor the Real Presence of God. It is a gesture of courtesy and an expression of love and respect for the holy Eucharist.
