There’s too much hate toward the marauders in the fandom, especially James. Yes they were bullies, but they grew up and changed. James died to protect his family.
He was not just a bully.
Sirius was not just a bully.
Remus was not just a bystander.
Please, remember what they did for Harry, not only what they did to Snape.

And at the same time everyone celebrates snape being the good guy, because he only wanted to protect Harry, for his unconquered childhood love. But yet, as an adult man, he acted like a child because he projected his resentment towards James onto Harry and made him suffer. And no one can tell me he did it just for the cover.

At 33 he still thinks a teenager deserved to be mauled by a werewolf for being nosy, and he still uses the horrible bullying nickname he came up when he was 11. James died at 21, he didn’t grow up either. These people aren’t just bullies sure, no one is, but it sure as hell defines them very well.
