Jaquez will be part of the Heat's Summer League team in Las Vegas and is expected to play in the team's first two games, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports Wednesday. Jacquez was named to the USA Select Team and has been in Las Vegas for the Team USA training camp this week while Miami competes in the California Classic. He'll stick around in Vegas for the start of NBA 2K25 Summer League -- which kicks off Friday -- and play in at least two games. The 23-year-old appeared in 75 regular-season games as a rookie and averaged 11.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steals.

Participating in Summer League
![Team logo](https://cdn.statically.io/img/heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/miami-heat-logo.png?w=134)
Ruled out for Game 5
![Team logo](https://cdn.statically.io/img/heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/miami-heat-logo.png?w=134)
Jaquez has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Celtics due to a hip flexor strain, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Jaquez initially went to the locker room during the first half of Game 4 after experiencing tightness in his hip but quickly returned to action. However, he was sidelined for the entire fourth quarter and finished with only nine points and two boards in 22 minutes. With Jaquez joining Terry Rozier (neck) and Jimmy Butler (knee) on the sidelines for the potential elimination game, Delon Wright, Patty Mills, Haywood Highsmith, Kevin Love and Duncan Robinson are candidates for increased roles.
Picks up hip injury in Game 4
![Team logo](https://cdn.statically.io/img/heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/miami-heat-logo.png?w=134)
Jaquez suffered a hip injury during Monday's Game 4 against the Celtics, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. He finished with nine points (4-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 22 minutes. Jaquez went to the locker room during the first half to be evaluated and quickly returned to the game, but he was ultimately held out of the fourth quarter due to tightness. "Just my right hip. Felt something give at the beginning of the second quarter going up for a rebound," said Jaquez after the game, per Wes Goldberg of the Locked On Podcast Network. The team expects to identify the extent of his injury Tuesday morning.
Steps up in starting lineup
![Team logo](https://cdn.statically.io/img/heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/miami-heat-logo.png?w=134)
Jaquez notched 16 points (8-16 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Sunday's 114-94 loss to Boston in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Jaquez once again stepped up for Miami while earning another starting nod in place of the injured Jimmy Butler (knee), handing out a team-high-tying assist total while ending as one of three Heat players with 15 or more points. Jaquez started in 20 games during the regular season, posting 15 or more points in 12 of those starts.
Shines in starting role
![Team logo](https://cdn.statically.io/img/heavy.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/miami-heat-logo.png?w=134)
Jaquez posted 21 points (8-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds and six assists across 35 minutes during Friday's 112-91 Play-In Game win over the Bulls. Jaquez had big shoes to fill as he entered the starting lineup in place of Jimmy Butler (knee), and he didn't disappoint. Friday marked his second time in four games scoring 20 or more points, and he did so with efficiency. Jaquez also packed the stat sheet with an impressive effort on the glass and as a distributor of the basketball The Heat will need to continue to lean on the rookie forward entering the team's opening-round series against Boston.
Joins starting five

Jaquez is starting Friday's Play-In Game against the Bulls. Jaquez will take the place of Jimmy Butler, who is expected to miss several weeks with an MCL sprain. While Butler is surely a big loss for the Heat, Jaquez has shown that he can produce while playing with the first unit, scoring in double figures in 16 of 20 starts during the regular season.
Decent stat line in loss

Jaquez closed Wednesday's 105-104 Play-In Game loss to the 76ers with 15 points (6-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 22 minutes. Jaquez looked good despite coming off the bench and was one of Miami's top contributors on offense. He's widely expected to move into the starting lineup for Friday's matchup against the Bulls due to the absence of Jimmy Butler (knee), and that would translate into an uptick in his usage rate.
Shines off bench in Sunday win

Jaquez racked up 18 points (6-12 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal over 32 minutes during Sunday's 118-103 win over Toronto. Jaquez thrived in a starting role earlier this season, and while he had some problems adjusting to a bench role as the campaign progressed, there's no question the rookie out of UCLA was one of the league's best first-year players while also ending the season on a strong note. Jaquez should see decent minutes off the bench when the Heat take on the 76ers in the Play-In Tournament on Wednesday.
Sniffs double-double

Jaquez posted 20 points (7-15 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, nine assists, one block and two steals across 32 minutes during Friday's 125-103 victory over the Raptors. Jaquez registered his ninth outing with 20 or more points this season, and while he has been losing his place in head coach Erik Spoelstra's rotation compared to earlier in the campaign, he's still capable of putting up solid numbers on any given game. Jaquez has averaged just 8.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game over his last 10 appearances, however, so he doesn't carry a lot of upside into the regular-season finale against the Raptors on Sunday.
