Everett and the Bears are in agreement on a contract, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. One of the better receiving options among a weak free-agent class of tight ends, Everett is linking up with a Bears team that already has a proven starter in Cole Kmet, who is coming off a 719-yard, six-TD season. Everett could take some of the snaps in obvious passing situations given that he's probably a bit quicker and more agile, though Kmet is taller, heavier, stronger and has a better track record of receiving production. The Bears may have a lot of two-TE formations in mind, especially with their WR depth behind No. 1 DJ Moore looking shaky at the moment. Still, it's not a great fantasy situation for Everett, who turns 30 in June after five straight seasons in the range of 408 to 555 receiving yards (for three different teams).

Gets green light to play Week 12
Everett exited early in Week 10 and sat out Week 11, but he's ready to return in Week 12. Donald Parham and Stone Smartt should continue to see playing time alongside Everett, but Everett has been Los Angeles' top pass catcher at tight end when available, with a team-high average of 3.4 targets per game in eight appearances. Baltimore has allowed only one touchdown to a tight end in 2023.
Back at practice Wednesday
Everett missed the Chargers' Week 11 loss to the Packers due to a chest injury he suffered in the previous game, but he's back on the practice field as Los Angeles begins preparations for its matchup with Baltimore on Sunday. The extent of Everett's participation won't be clarified until practice concludes, but the tight end looks to be trending in a positive direction after he was unable to practice in any fashion a week earlier.
Dealing with chest injury
Everett left the Chargers' Week 10 loss to the Lions early due to a back injury and was listed as a non-participant Wednesday on the team's first Week 11 practice report with the same issue, but the team has since updated the nature of his injury. in any case, two straight absences to begin Week 11 prep cloud the tight end's availability for Sunday's game against the Packers. He'll need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid taking an injury designation into Sunday.
Hurts back against Lions
Everett failed to catch either of his two targets before getting hurt. The veteran tight end has battled various injuries throughout the season, and the severity of this latest one has yet to be determined.
Inactive against Bears on SNF
Despite practicing fully Friday, Everett came down to a game-time decision and has ultimately been ruled out. In Everett's absence, additional opportunities at tight end should be available for Donald Parham, with Stone Smartt and Tre' McKitty possibly sliding into larger roles as well. Everett's next chance to play will come on MNF against the Jets in Week 9.
Returns to practice
Everett missed Wednesday's session, but his return to field Thursday gives the tight end a chance to suit up Sunday against the Bears. The Chargers' second Week 8 injury report will be released later Thursday and will reveal whether Everett was a limited or full participant.
