Milton signed a 3-year, $9 million contract with the Knicks on Thursday before being shipped, along with Bojan Bogdanovic, to the Nets as part of the sign-and-trade that will send Mikal Bridges and Keita Bates-Diop (shin) to the Knicks, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. While the final two years of Milton's contract are non-guaranteed, he will have an opportunity to compete for backcourt minutes in a rebuilding Nets squad. In 2023-24, Milton averaged 4.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 12.1 minutes across 48 total appearances for the Pistons, Timberwolves and Knicks.

Latest Nets News
Shake Milton : Headed to Brooklyn
Trendon Watford : To become restricted free agent
The Nets extended Watford a qualifying offer, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports. Brooklyn will have the opportunity to match opposing offers made to Watford. The 23-year-old appeared in 63 games with Brooklyn last season, averaging 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds on 53/40/79 shooting splits across 13.6 minutes.
Nic Claxton : Set for four-year extension
Claxton intends to sign a four-year, $100 million contract extension with the Nets, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Less than 24 hours after dealing Mikal Bridges to the Knicks, Brooklyn is on the verge of locking up Claxton for four seasons. The 24-year-old started in each of his 147 appearances over the last two seasons, averaging 11.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 blocks per game in 2024. Claxton's name had been rumored in trade talks this offseason with the Nets slated for a rebuild, but for now, he's one of the franchise's cornerstones.
Bojan Bogdanovic : Headed to Brooklyn
The Knicks traded Bogdanovic (foot/wrist) to the Nets along with four unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick via the Bucks, an unprotected pick swap and a second-round pick in exchange for Mikal Bridges on Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Bogdanovic will head to Brooklyn after being traded from the Pistons to the Knicks in 2023-24. The veteran forward saw his production decrease after coming to New York on a bench role, averaging 10.4 points and 2.0 rebounds in 19.2 minutes across 29 appearances. Bogdanovic underwent surgery on his left wrist and was reported to need left foot surgery after the Knicks' postseason exit, but he is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. In Brooklyn, the 34-year-old forward will likely compete for a starting forward spot alongside Cameron Johnson (toe) and could return to his nearly 20 points per game average.
Keita Bates-Diop : Exercises player option
Bates-Diop (shin) exercised his $2.65 million player option Monday for the 2024-25 season, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. This is an expected move for Bates-Diop. The forward made just 14 appearances for the Nets last season, averaging 1.6 points in 4.9 minutes per game. Bates-Diop missed the end of the season with a right shin stress reaction, but he's expected to be healthy entering training camp.
Ben Simmons : On track for training camp
Nets general manager Sean Marks said Wednesday that "all signs point to" Simmons (back) being available to start next season's training camp, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports. Simmons underwent a successful microscopic partial discectomy in mid-March to alleviate the nerve impingement in his lower back, marking yet another injury-related setback for the 2017 No. 1 overall pick. The 27-year-old has played in only 57 games across the last three seasons, but when available, he has shown he can still be an active defender and excellent playmaker. Simmons has one more year remaining on his current contract, a five-year extension he signed with Philadelphia in 2019.
Jalen Wilson : Struggles with shot
Wilson totaled nine points (4-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt), nine rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 32 minutes during Sunday's 107-86 loss to the 76ers. Wilson ends his rookie campaign in a 2-for-10 slump from beyond the arc, but his 35.6 percent clip on 1.6 threes per game through his first 38 appearances is a decent foundation. Wilson's strength is his top trait, however, with upside to carve out a defensively-oriented role with rebounding juice in the future. The 23-year-old logged a limited sample of under 600 minutes this season, but he ranked in the 88th percentile for defensive rebounding and 97th percentile for offensive rebounding among all wings.
Cam Thomas : Scores team-high 18 in finale
Thomas supplied 18 points (5-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds and two assists over 27 minutes during Sunday's 107-86 loss to the 76ers. Thomas leading the team in scoring despite a 21-point defeat is emblematic of Brooklyn's 2023-24 campaign. While Thomas' 55.4 true-shooting percentage isn't exactly worthy of being an offensive engine, his tough-shot making and ability to get buckets versus all types of defenders has solidified him as a top isolation scorer of the next generation. Thomas ascended to career-high marks of 5.0 free-throw attempts and 6.0 three-point attempts per game this season, creating true multi-level productivity to help balance his scoring diet.
