Latest Warriors News
Daeqwon Plowden : Returns to action Sunday
Plowden (leg) recorded 14 points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 23 minutes during Sunday's 92-68 win over the Lakers in the California Classic Summer League. Plowden suffered a right leg injury during Saturday's Summer League win over Miami, but he was back in action a day later. He's played a prominent role for Golden State this summer and should continue to get opportunities to contribute.
Daeqwon Plowden : Suffers leg injury
Plowden suffered a right leg injury in Saturday's win over the Heat in the 2024 NBA Summer League, according to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area. Plowden was helped off the court with an apparent right leg injury, and the Warriors are expected to be very cautious with him in terms of the potential recovery process. Plowden scored 24 points (9-13 FG, 6-9 3Pt) across 23 minutes in the win before exiting the contest.
Buddy Hield : Headed to Golden State
The Warriors agreed to a sign-and-trade with the 76ers for Hield on a four-year contract in exchange for a 2031 second-round pick Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. After the departure of Klay Thompson, Hield will likely compete with Brandin Podziemski for the starting job next to Stephen Curry in the Warriors' backcourt. In 2023-24, Hield averaged 12.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 25.7 minutes across 84 combined appearances for the Pacers and 76ers. The 31-year-old guard has proven to be one of the most lethal outside shooters in the NBA, as his 1,322 three-pointers made since 2019-20 rank first in the league.
Kyle Anderson : Heading to Golden State
The Warriors are planning to sign Anderson to a three-year, $27 million contract in exchange for a second-round pick swap and cash considerations as a sign-and-trade with the Timberwolves on Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Anderson will head to Golden State after spending the previous two seasons in Minnesota. In 2023-24, the 30-year-old forward averaged 6.4 points, 4.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 22.6 minutes across 79 appearances, including 10 starts. After the departure of Klay Thompson, Anderson will likely compete for minutes in the Warriors' forward rotation with Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.
De'Anthony Melton : Agrees to deal with Golden State
Melton and the Warriors agreed to a one-year, $12.8 million deal Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. The Warriors quickly pivoted to Melton after Klay Thompson agreed to a three-year contract with the Mavericks, although that deal hasn't been finalized yet. Melton struggled with a lingering back issue last season, but when healthy, he's an elite defender and a capable three-point shooter. In 38 games with the 76ers last season, Melton averaged 11.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.0 three-pointers.
Chris Paul : Cut loose by Golden State
The Warriors waived Paul on Sunday, Chris Haynes of Turner Sports reports. Paul's $30 million salary for 2024-25 would have been fully guaranteed had the Warriors opted to keep him on the roster until free agency officially began at 6 p.m. ET Sunday, and after no trade partner emerged for the 39-year-old point guard, Golden State opted to cut him loose. Though he career-low 9.2 points on 44.1 percent shooting from the field in 26.4 minutes per contest over his 58 appearances in 2023-24, Paul still demonstrated aptitude as a playmaker (6.8:1.3 assist-to-turnover ratio). Paul could still have plenty of appeal around the league as a stopgap solution at point guard, though at this stage of his career, he's more ideally suited for a sub-30-minute starting role or as a lead guard off the bench.
Marques Bolden : With Golden State for Summer League
Bolden is listed on the Warriors Summer League roster. Bolden inked a two-year, two-way contract with the Hornets in March, but has been released and will spend Summer League with the Warriors. Bolden started in each of the Hornets' last two regular season games and averaged 10.0 points. 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks over 30 minutes.
Quinten Post : Sitting out Summer League
Post (leg) isn't on the Warriors' Summer League roster, Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Post has been tending to a minor leg injury and will be held out of Summer League to recover. Golden State acquired the rights to Post on draft night after he was selected with the No. 52 pick and the injury should be an afterthought once the regular season rolls around.
