Ware recorded 26 points (12-21 FG, 2-5 FT, 0-2 3Pt), 11 rebounds, three assists and a block in 29 minutes during Sunday's 102-86 win over the Kings in the California Classic Summer League. Ware was dominant for the Heat's Summer League team Sunday, recording game-high marks in points and rebounds. The 15th overall pick has averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game across his first two Summer League outings, showing clear flashes of upside.

Latest Heat News
Kel'el Ware : Shines in Summer League
Ware recorded 26 points (12-21 FG, 2-5 FT, 0-2 3Pt), 11 rebounds, three assists and a block in 29 minutes during Sunday's 102-86 win over the Kings in the California Classic Summer League. Ware was dominant for the Heat's Summer League team Sunday, recording game-high marks in points and rebounds. The 15th overall pick has averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game across his first two Summer League outings, showing clear flashes of upside.
Alec Burks : Gets one-year deal from Miami
Burks agreed to a one-year contract with the Heat on Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. After spending the first seven years of his career in Utah, Burks has moved around the league over the last six seasons, most recently playing for the Pistons and Knicks during the 2023-24 campaign. Over 66 regular-season appearances in 2023-24, he averaged 10.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game. Burks will likely have to settle for a bench role once again this season due to Miami's talent in the backcourt, but he's a decent scorer who has been relatively productive from the perimeter over the past few seasons.
Thomas Bryant : Returning to Miami
Bryant and the Heat agreed to a one-year deal Wednesday, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Bryant previously declined his $2.85 million player option for the 2024-25, but after assessing his opportunities on the open market, he'll ultimately stick around in Miami on a lesser deal. He'll likely find himself fourth in the pecking order at center for the Heat behind Bam Adebayo, Kevin Love and rookie Kel'el Ware, meaning that it may take an injury or two for Bryant to be a factor in head coach Erik Spoelstra's rotation.
Dru Smith : Back in Miami
Smith (knee) agreed to a two-way contract with the Heat on Monday. This signing presumably means that Smith has returned to health following a season-ending knee injury that limited him to nine games during the 2023-24 campaign. He averaged 4.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals in nine appearances before going down with the injury. Smith figures to split time between the Heat and the club's G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Kevin Love : Remaining in Miami
Love agreed Sunday with the Heat on a two-year deal worth over $8 million, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. On Saturday, Love declined his $4.03 million player option for the 2024-25 season, but he'll remain with Miami after quickly coming to terms on a two-year deal. The 35-year-old made 55 regular-season appearances for Miami in 2023-24, averaging 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 16.8 minutes per game. He'll look to fend off rookie first-round pick Kel'el Ware for the primary backup role behind starting center Bam Adebayo.
Kevin Love : Testing free agency
Love declined $4.03 million player option for the 2024-25 season Saturday and will become an unrestricted free agent, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Though Love will hit the open market, he and the Heat are optimistic about negotiating a new deal in the opening days of free agency. The veteran big man has carved out a nice role off the bench in Miami, where he has been productive in relatively short-minute stints. Overall, Love averaged 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 triples across 16.8 minutes in 55 appearances in 2023-24. If Love does in fact re-sign with Miami, he'll face a new challenger for the top backup role behind starting center Bam Adebayo, as the Heat used its first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft on Indiana big man Kel'el Ware.
Josh Richardson : Picks up option
Richardson 9shoulder) has picked up his $3 million player option to return for the 2024-25 season, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. A shoulder injury in February led to a premature ending to Richardson's season, but he was a rotational player prior to the injury. Overall, he averaged 9.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.5 triples across 25.7 minutes in 43 games. The veteran wing will look to earn a similar role for the Heat in the upcoming season.
Bam Adebayo : To sign three-year extension
Adebayo intends to sign a three-year extension with the Heat, Tim Reynolds of Associated Press reported Wednesday. The extension will be worth $166 million, per Shams Charania of The Athletic, and keep Adebayo in Miami through the 2028-29 campaign. Adebayo is a three-time All-Star and was named to the All-Defensive First Team last season. He averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks in 34.0 minutes per game across 71 regular-season appearances in 2023-24.
