Latest Raptors News
Garrett Temple : Returns to Toronto
Temple and the Raptors agreed on a one-year deal Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. The Raptors signed Temple back for his second year with the team Monday. The 38-year-old averaged 3.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists across 10.7 minutes in only 27 regular-season appearances last season.
Bruce Brown : Team option picked up
The Raptors are exercising Brown's $23 million player option for 2024-25 on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Instead of hitting free agency this offseason, Brown will be under contract in Toronto for one more season. In 2023-24, the 26-year-old guard averaged 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 27.9 minutes across 67 appearances split between the Pacers and Raptors. Brown's expiring contract could also be a valuable trade piece for Toronto.
Immanuel Quickley : Agrees to $175 million deal
Quickley agreed to sign a five-year, $175 million contract with the Raptors on Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. The Raptors acquired the 25-year-old from the Knicks in December, and he turned up his game in Toronto as he started in all 38 appearances. Quickley averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 0.9 steals in 33.3 minutes while shooting 39.5 percent from deep for the Raptors. He was entering the 2024-25 campaign as a restricted free agent but has now secured a massive deal shortly after teammate Scottie Barnes agreed to a max contract.
Sasha Vezenkov : Shipped to Toronto
The Kings traded Vezenkov, Davion Mitchell, the No. 45 pick in 2024 NBA Draft and a second-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft via Portland to the Raptors in exchange for Jalen McDaniels on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Vezenkov made 42 appearances for the Kings in 2023-24, averaging 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.2 minutes on 44.0/37.5/80.0 shooting splits. While Vezenkov has shown the ability to be a quality floor-spacer at the forward position, there is no guarantee he will receive a significant uptick in playing time in Toronto.
Davion Mitchell : Heading to Toronto
Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov and the No. 45 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft were traded from the Kings to the Raptors in exchange for Jalen McDaniels on Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Mitchell maintained a consistent bench role for the Kings during the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 5.3 points, 1.9 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game over 72 regular-season appearances. He should provide a defensive punch off the bench with his new team during the 2024-25 season.
Scottie Barnes : Set to ink five-year extension
Barnes (hand) agreed Monday with the Raptors on a five-year maximum extension worth up to $270 million, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Keeping Barnes in the fold long term is a no-brainer for the Raptors, as the 22-year-old forward took a big leap forward during his third NBA season in 2023-24. Over his 60 appearances this past season, Barnes posted averages of 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.7 three-pointers, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks in 34.9 minutes per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field, 78.1 percent from the free-throw line and 34.1 percent from three-point range. Each of those averages represented career highs, and the free-throw and three-point percentages were also personal bests for Barnes. Expect Barnes and the Raptors to finalize the extension at some point in the coming days. Barnes missed the final 22 games of the 2023-24 season after undergoing surgery on his left hand, but he's set for a healthy offseason and shouldn't have any restrictions by the time training camp gets underway in the fall.
Scottie Barnes : Expects to have healthy offseason
Barnes said Monday during his exit interview that he wanted to play at the end of the regular season, but there was still swelling in his surgically-repaired left hand, so the medical staff held him out for precautionary reasons, Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun reports. Barnes added that he doesn't expect to be limited during the offseason, so he appears firmly on track to lead the Raptors in 2024-25. The 2021 No. 4 overall pick was in the midst of a breakout campaign before breaking his left hand in early March. Across 60 appearances, Barnes averaged 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.5 blocks, 1.3 steals and 1.7 threes per game -- all career highs. He's eligible for a rookie scale contract extension this fall.
Jordan Nwora : Impressive off bench Sunday
Nwora chipped in 14 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt), 11 rebounds and one assist over 20 minutes during Sunday's 118-103 loss to Miami. Nwora saw regular minutes for the Raptors off the bench since the beginning of March, and while his playing time was not enough to make him a viable fantasy alternative across all formats, he certainly tried to make the most of his minutes whenever his name was called upon duty. Nwora scored in double digits in 12 of his 22 appearances from March 1 onward, including five of his last eight.
