The Wizards declined the $11 million team option on Shamet's (calf) contract Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Shamet spent only one season with the Wizards, during which he averaged a career-low 7.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting only 33.8 percent from deep. The 27-year-old is a career 38.4 percent shooter from three-point range, and he will join the free agency market.

Latest Wizards News
Landry Shamet : Team option declined
The Wizards declined the $11 million team option on Shamet's (calf) contract Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Shamet spent only one season with the Wizards, during which he averaged a career-low 7.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting only 33.8 percent from deep. The 27-year-old is a career 38.4 percent shooter from three-point range, and he will join the free agency market.
Jonas Valanciunas : Bound for D.C. on three-year pact
Valanciunas agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract with the Wizards on Sunday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Valanciunas played at least 74 regular-season games in each of his three seasons with the Pelicans, but his role declined in 2023-24 while New Orleans enjoyed better health from frontcourt mate Zion Williamson. Though he appeared in all 82 games, Valanciunas' averages of 12.2 points and 8.8 rebounds in 23.5 minutes per game all represented notable downturns from the season before. The 32-year-old should have a chance to bounce back as a veteran presence for the Wizards, who just selected Alex Sarr with the No. 2 pick in this year's draft.
Richaun Holmes : Agrees to two-year deal with Wiz
Holmes agreed to a two-year, $25.9 million contract with the Wizards on Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Holmes had to decline his $12.8 million player option prior to this agreement, so he secured himself a small raise. As for the second season of his deal, only $250,000 of it is guaranteed. Holmes figures to play a key role for the rebuilding Wizards in 2024-25 with this news, and he offers some intriguing fantasy appeal due to the lack of depth in Washington's frontcourt.
Patrick Baldwin : Hits four threes vs. Celtics
Baldwin closed Sunday's 132-122 loss to Boston with 17 points (6-11 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, one block and two steals over 33 minutes. Baldwin hit on four threes for the first time in Washington's regular-season finale. He played 30-plus minutes in each of the Wizards' last four games, and over that span, he averaged 16.5 points on 54.5 percent shooting, 9.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.8 steals over 36.3 minutes per game.
Jared Butler : Season-high 22 points vs. Boston
Butler racked up 22 points (9-19 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal over 31 minutes during Sunday's 132-122 loss to the Celtics. After registering his first career double-double Friday, Butler followed that up with a season-high 22 points in the Wizards' regular-season finale. Over the last 10 games of the regular season, Butler averaged 10.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals over 22.2 minutes per game.
Eugene Omoruyi : Career-high 26 points vs. Boston
Omoruyi registered 26 points (11-17 FG, 4-6 3Pt), two rebounds and five assists across 23 minutes during Sunday's 132-122 loss to the Celtics. Omoruyi had a career night in the Wizards' regular-season finale, coming off the bench to lead the team in scoring. Omoruyi played 10-plus minutes in each of the last seven games of the season and averaged 8.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists over 15.6 minutes per game over that span.
Richaun Holmes : Ruled out Sunday
Holmes (toe) will not play in Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Celtics. Holmes' absence will be his ninth straight to close out the season. After being dealt to Washington from Dallas, the big man ended up playing 17 games for his new team, including eight starts. He averaged 7.1 points and 6.1 rebounds across 18.7 minutes during that span.
Jordan Poole : Out for finale
Poole (illness) will not play in Sunday's season finale in Boston. Poole had high expectations in his first season with the Wizards after being dealt from Golden State, and it is fair to say he did not quite live up to them. Still, the 24-year-old shooting guard will end the year with averages of 17.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.3 blocks and 2.4 triples across 30.1 minutes per game.
