BakuDeku Slime is a viral video of YouTube streamer PixelDrink singing "BakuDeku slime" while making color-themed slime to represent the shipping of My Hero Academia characters Katsuki Bakugou and Izuku Midoriya referred to as BakuDeku. He's shown making green and orange slime and combining it, symbolizing the combination of the two characters. The clip of PixelDrink singing his spontaneous "BakuDeku slime" song went viral on TikTok in May and June 2024, inspiring memetic usage as a TikTok sound and a dance trend.

Origin

On May 24th, 2024, YouTuber^[1] PixelDrink streamed for roughly two and a half hours, entitled, "Making SLIME With Bakugo." The stream amassed over 204,500 views in a month. At the stream's 14:48-minute mark (shown below), PixelDrink says, "Today, me and Deku are going to make some slime." He then starts singing, "Some BakuDeku slime! BakuDeku slime!"

Today, me and Deku are going to make some slime. Some BakuDeku slime! BakuDeku slime! BakuDeku slime! Baka du baka baka da BakaDeku slime! Got the green paint! Got the orange paint! Put it in your face, like Drake's Drake.

On May 25th, 2024, TikToker^[2] @i.hate.crunchy.cookies posted the abovementioned clip, writing in text overlay, "WHY DID HE START SINGING-" gaining over 11.4 million plays and 1.6 million likes in a month (shown below, left).

The video's TikTok sound^[3] was then used by others. For instance, on May 26th, TikToker^[4] @s1llybeans posted an animation with the sound, briefly referencing the Fake MrBeast meme, receiving over 1.3 million plays and 201,700 likes in one month (shown below, right).

On June 2nd, 2024, TikToker^[5] @kaleltann posted a dance video with the TikTok sound, gaining over 3.1 million plays and 543,100 likes in three weeks (shown below, left).

Others replicated the dance, such as TikToker^[6] @_sic.rick_ on June 18th, gaining over 6.4 million plays and 1.4 million likes in six days (shown below, right).
