Angry Birds Chuck the Ally post and reaction tweet.

Angry Birds, the mobile game in which one fires birds with different offensive properties at the defenses of their enemy, has seemingly made a grave mistake by making canon the revelation that one of the birds, Chuck, is a straight ally.

The company is receiving a pile-on of backlash from a post putting Chuck in front of the "Straight Ally" Pride Flag.

Angry Birds calls Chuck straight

The video game's official Twitter / X account was halfway to scoring a PR win by posting about Pride Month after it ended, but choosing to characterize Chuck as a "straight ally" instead of a homosexual drew the ire of the queer Angry Birds fandom, who have characterized Chuck as gay in their headcanon for years.

the gayest angry bird

For those unfamiliar with the Angry Birds extended universe, it may seem improbable that these grumpy fellas even have sexualities, much less queer identities.

However, there is certainly evidence from the Angry Birds movie that Chuck is attracted to men. For example, in the 2016 film, Chuck can be seen fantasizing about a sexy male bird shaking his butt, then signing Chuck's chest.

In a short post to the Angry Birds YouTube channel, Red and Chuck are trapped by the villainous pigs and are literally caged together for the purpose of procreation (even though Red and Chuck are both male).

Red eventually comes up with a plot to fool their captors with a fake egg, and as part of the ruse, pretends to flirt with Chuck, making him blush.

And then there's this:

All of this, on top of being surreal, is surprisingly explicit in characterizing Chuck as not-quite-straight, making the brand's tweet attempting to canonize Chuck as a "straight ally" not go down smoothly.

The evidence Chuck is gay It's going downhill

The internet eagerly awaits Angry Birds response on this pressing matter.
