The Sunset Strip Getting Even More ‘Legendary’

Summertime in Los Angeles includes certain perks that make us feel fortunate to live here. One of the most enjoyable of those is rooftop dining. And one of the most spectacular rooftops is The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills

In one direction are the Hollywood Hills, which begin rising just on the other side of Sunset Boulevard. Architectural masterpieces dot the landscape, including the Griffith Observatory. Beneath the hills, tree-lined residential streets sprawl toward the oasis of skyscrapers that is downtown, and turning southward, one spies the Baldwin Hills, and westward, the high-rises of Century City. And you can see it all amid mid- to high 70s temperatures while taking a dip in the pool.

It is here, in this glorious setting that John Legend has chosen to launch a new dining experience. Legend and LVE at the London WeHo Rooftop is the first example of the modern luxury hotel hosting the public for seasonal poolside rooftop dining. You can even dine in a private cabana.

Dinner is served between 5:30 and 10 p.m. daily. Executive Chef Anthony Keene has created a three-course prix fixe menu with dishes inspired by Legend’s favorite things from wife Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook,  “Cravings.” It’s paired with a curated wine list of bottles of LVE and Boisset Collection (Legend’s LVE partner).

The meal is priced at $85, and $120 with the wine pairings. Highlights include short rib ravioli, spicy Manila clams and beef Wellington (for two). Desserts include a berry pavlova, which can be paired with an LVE French sparkling rose.

There’s also an a la carte menu, featuring hits like lobster tortellini, English pea and Morel mushroom risotto, and steaks sliced for sharing, including, if you can believe it, a 50-ounce dry-aged Porterhouse. Do the math, that’s more than three pounds of beef. You’ll want to split it with someone nonjudgmental.

This summertime experience will run through Labor Day Weekend. Reservations can be booked on OpenTable or directly from the hotel’s website
