Listen. There’s AI all over this in the cutaways and “we’ll be right back” network messages. For this reason I can’t enjoy the amazing performances and clever ending. It actually feels insulting when that skeleton message shows up repeatedly, like the filmmakers don’t give a shit and want to let you know that you’ll accept blatant AI in your 70s period piece. Don’t let this be the start of accepting this shit in your entertainment.

Edit: it really does suck being the only one ready to complain about this. Be more mad if movies are your passion.

Edit 2: so this has been quite the week...

Womp womp, movie uses AI images for some of the commercial break/transition title cards. I can already see the response, “it’s not that big of a deal” or “it doesn’t affect the movie”, which the latter may be true, but it’s a slippery slope. If this gets a pass, where do we draw the line? Complacency in accepting AI now is complacency for AI in the future— a very bleak future.

Shame, for what’s it worth, I enjoyed the movie…

I would normally never, ever even think of review bombing like this, but I'm heartbroken and furious. While in the taxi on the way to go and see this movie at the cinema, I learned that it contains several AI generated images. I sat and watched it anyway because my ticket was prepaid and I couldn't afford to waste that taxi fare either. I'm genuinely crying as I write this. I'm ashamed that my time and money has gone towards…

didn't know AI Art was this popular in the 70s

  • Mike Flanagan

Was lucky enough to see this ahead of its theatrical release. David Dastmalchian carries this atmospheric and riveting real-time horror broadcast with a wonderful performance. The only other movie I can think of that is this is remotely comparable to is GHOSTWATCH. Highly recommended!

UPDATE 3/21/24: Yeah, the movie remains absolutely excellent, and remains highly recommended.
