I am so pleased we ventured from the French Quarter to visit this adorable cafe/restaurant! I was searching for Black cultural places to visit while in New Orleans and Cafe Dauphine popped up in my search. Though a bit of a hike (we honestly wondered where we were being taken in our Lyft haha), it was well worth it! The restaurant is tucked in a residential neighborhood. The decor is simple and warm. Thinking about it, it would be so nice to have a fireplace in there! The music was soft but a good selection. Our waitress was adorable and very helpful. We found an awesome Groupon deal for an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert. I honestly, would have paid full price for everything we got. The food was delicious. For an appetizer, we got seafood egg rolls. They were a little weird but in a good way. For an entree, I got the stuffed shrimp dinner. The red beans & rice... the way they were able to make a "stuffed shrimp"??? So good!!! My friend said her grilled chicken sandwich was perfect. The fries were so good!! Much praise to the chef! Oh, and the dessert!! We were too stuffed to finish our meals, so we definitely didn't have room for dessert and had to get it to go. We ordered the bread pudding. I didn't get a picture of it and I ate it the next morning cold but... Y'all. SO GOOD!!! And that pecan rum sauce?! MY GOD!!! I can only imagine how good it would've been when it was warm. So so good!

      Definitely, visit Cafe Dauphine!

Now this is THE seafood meal of my NOLA trip. Came in using a groupon and was pleasantly surprised and how amazing the food was! Usually Groupon can be hit or miss but this spot was a hit! It's the neighborhood that is a miss. Tourists beware. Uber it!

The crawfish chowder is creamy, hearty, and tons of crawfish! Can't go wrong with the crab cakes. They've got to be the biggest and best I've had! And it wasn't full of breading like most crab cakes but actually fully filled with crab. Crazy huh??

The catfish was huge. Good crispiness, light batter, and definitely a big portion. Entrees come with two sides which is more than plenty. Mine also came with stuffed shrimp...and guess what it was stuffed with...crab! Definitely couldn't get enough.

Come hungry because you'll be stuffed! And definitely satisfied.

I was here recently on a Friday evening. There were five in my group and we had reservations for 6:30. There weren't many people inside the restaurant so we would have been good without reservations. The weather was pleasant so I don't know if it is ever crowded but it wasn't this particular evening.

Four of us ordered the Lizardi rolls. Everyone loved them except me. I thought they were dry. The others raved about how great they were so maybe it's my taste buds that are faulty.

I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Pasta and was a little disappointed because the sauce was rather bland and lacked flavor. I was hoping for an Alfredo sauce but the menu did not say it would be so I might be responsible for my own disappointment. The shrimp were delicious and perfectly flavored.

Someone in my party ordered the Original Stuffed Bell Pepper. That was said to be disappointing because it seems Seafood Boil was used to prepare it and everyone knows that Seafood Boil and ground beef doesn't mix well. Another ordered the BBQ Ribs and that person was happy. The ribs were huge and thick and apparently tasted as good as they looked. Someone else ordered the Fish Dinner. I don't quite recall what the verdict was so I can't report anything. I don't remember what the other gentleman had but I do remember he ordered cheesecake and it looked delicious. It was a huge slice and I was slightly jealous. Homemade bread pudding was also delivered to our table for someone but the size of the serving was not as impressive as the cheesecake.

The neighborhood that the restaurant is in seems residential and it was dark and not much lighting on any of the streets once you left the main street. I don't believe there was a parking lot but there seemed to be plenty of available street parking since the place in on a corner.

The service was timely and we had no issues with our server. I might come back if someone suggested but I would get something else and I would probably get the cheesecake and hope I got a huge slice.

I don't even know where to start with this review, because I just want everyone to know how delicious everything that comes out of this place is, and the serious warm heart of the owner, Tia. Cafe Dauphine was a recommended vendor for the venue we chose to have our wedding at in New Orleans. I told her I was coming down for a site visit and would like to do a tasting, and boy, did we do a tasting! We went to her restaurant to do the tasting, and were greeted promptly inside the dining room. She met with us briefly and said that she would put some things together for us to taste, based on the sample menu. She literally pulled out all the stops, and the food was so delicious!!! It was so insanely good, that we couldn't stop eating, and I honestly felt like I got rolled out of there that night. We started with the crawfish corn chowder, fish, pasta, stuffed bell peppers, and a lot of other dishes in between that were all bursting with flavor.

Flash forward to my wedding day, and she realy brought the good food!! My guest couldn't stop raving about how delicious everything was, and literally wanted her to bottle the crawfish corn chowder for them to take home. Oh, and the bread pudding....just amazing!

Definitely recommend stopping here for a bite or for all your catering needs, because you are sure to get an amazing meal and awesome customer service!!

I had the honor of picking Cafe Dauphine for my Birthday Lunch. It was one of the last black owned restaurants in the city that I had to try. I was truly amazed by this place. The service and the food were exceptional! The location is tucked away in a neighborhood in the Lower Ninth ward, which I find very cool. Peaceful and quiet area.

Upon entering Cafe Dauphine, you are greeted with welcoming smiles! The waitress was wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable. She helped everyone in our party make decisions on our meal! Now to the food... Most people at my table started with a crab and crawfish bisque.... Listen.... it was truly a meal within itself, I could have ordered 5. The flavor was phenomenal and it had all the seafood in it! Not just one little thing but enough to make it super filling! I truly enjoyed it. For my lunch, I went with a Fish and Shrimp plate. The seafood was fried to perfection and with just the right spices to give it a kick! Along with it, I had the loaded mash potatoes, which was truly loaded and almost a meal it self! I really enjoyed the food and vibe here.

This is a great place for group outings.

Street parking is available, but you definitely shouldn't have any issues finding parking in the area.

Two friends and I visited this restaurant on a Tuesday in the afternoon. The person who greeted us never said welcome or hello just how many. She walked us to our seat and walked away. Huh? We sat and waited at least 10 minutes before asking if anyone was going to come over. Who seemed to be the only waitress yelled that she would be right with us! After another 8-10 minutes she still hadn't come to take out order. One of my friends grew really impatient and told her she needed to come take our order. I asked that we just leave and go somewhere else. My friend insisted on staying because she was hungry and didn't feel like leaving. So we stayed. The waitress finally came over to take our order. She immediately stated that it was only her third day on the job which made us feel a little less agitated about the wait and lack of service.

There was also someone smoking inside the building. When I asked why it smelled like someone was smoking she said that it was the "cotton candy machine" . They don't sell cotton candy y'all ! So I asked that she please go check on the "cotton candy machine" since it must be burning. She shuffled behind the bar to the backside of the restaurant. A few minutes after her return the smell seemed to calm down miraculously. I guess she put the fire out.

I ordered the pictured dish! This dish was extremely delicious! Scrape the plate and press the crumbs with my finger! It saved them from a one star honestly. Although the food was undeniably good and I love supporting minority owned businesses , I don't think I would recommend this place to anyone or revisit without suggesting somewhere else to go. They really need to focus on making sure they train their staff before throwing them out on the floor. Definitely one of the worst service experiences I've ever had!

Fish, shrimp, red beans & rice, and loaded potatoes! Yummy

What an amazing experience! I visited Cafe Dauphine NYE weekend for my bday. The ambiance was beautiful. It had a chic jazz feel to it. For appetizers we order the lizardi rolls. The were sooooo good! They were stuffed with crawfish, crabmeat, shrimp and lettuce I believe. For dinner I had the creole gumbo. It was okay. They were a little stingy with the seasoning. My cousin had the creole Alfredo. That was extremely good, highly recommended. The best part of my experience was our waiter. He was very tentative and the restaurant was pretty busy that evening. I can't wait to go back!

I was on FACEBOOK and I saw a review about this BLACK OWNED BUSINESS in the Lower 9th ward. I am VERY HAPPY and SATISFIED that I went there and I have continued to patronize this business because they take PRIDE in the preparation of their dishes. The dining area is quaint but yet has a nice ambiance which allows you to watch the food being prepared. The server's are attentive to you and your requests making the dining experience pleasurable. That's why I've given them a high score and have taken the time to recommend this restaurant to you and anyone visiting New Orleans. The prices are in the median range for Blackened Red Fish in New Orleans.

It's on the corner in a humble neighborhood, But step inside--with the crisp tablecloths and colorful decorations--you know you're in a good place, Very friendly service. Jon enjoyed his shrimp and grits, Nina's burger was huge and cooked the way she liked it. My fried shrimp were fresh & fried right, but my favorite thing was the house salad, a variety of greens and little bits of cheese.

I just ate here yesterday for lunch. I had the stuffed bell pepper, red beans and rice and a nice salad. It was rolling y'all. my waitress Ry took care of me and it felt very comfortable in there. That stuffed bell pepper was so good it's still on my mind. It had some nice bits of crab in it. And I ate the whole pepper like you're supposed to ha..
