What you’ll give. Every Atavist subscription directly supports the work of freelance journalists. We split subscription revenues 50/50 with our writers through our royalties program, and the half that we keep helps us fund future stories. Our parent company, Automattic, also matches every dollar we make from subscriptions with another two dollars that we put toward new projects. Thanks to our subscribers’ support, our contributors have collected nine National Magazine Award nominations and one win; five Livingston Award nominations and one win; and numerous other accolades. Some have published books based on their Atavist stories, and others have gotten film/TV deals. Nothing makes us happier than knowing that the stories we publish boost the careers of hard-working freelancers.
