As Motrin learned earlier this year, the moms on Twitter are a passionate and vocal contingent on the ever popular micro-blogging platform. But the Twitter moms are not just all about criticizing ad campaigns gone awry. Oh no, after the kids are in bed these moms convene on Twitter and party the night away.
How it All Works
What do I mean by party? Well, it usually starts with a designated hashtag. A hashtag makes it easy for Twitter folk to follow conversations, events, and causes on Twitter and is indicated with a #. The party is promoted in advance with some moms even creating badges for other moms to pimp out on their sites. Once the Twitter party starts, the host begins interacting with the party attendees (open to everyone on Twitter) and conversation, exchanges, and debauchery ensues.

We Even Have Party Promoters
Some moms are even capitalizing on the concept. Amy Bair, a mommy blogger, from Maryland calls the parties she organizes, executes, and hosts "sitewarming parties." Most of her clients are small businesses and other mommy bloggers. She creates the buzz, puts together a panel of experts based on the client's niche, and coordinates giveaways. These giveaways and the chance to win are what keeps moms engaged and as a result, the hashtag for the party is usually a number one trending topic on Twitter Search within minutes. The sitewarming parties business is booming and for Amy, a stay at home mom, it's a great way to work virtually.

Girls Night Out
Mommy Gossip-GNO (GNO stands for Girls Night Out) is another weekly party that moms attend regularly. Each week's GNO has a different theme that those in attendance "gossip" about. Every Tuesday night, many know the party is starting because the hashtag #gno starts dominating the Twittersphere. Moms exchange ideas, offer advice, and find new followers during the party.
While these parties are hosted for moms by moms, lots of other Twitter users often join in the fun. Hashtags on Twitter are great for facilitating community and it's clear the moms on Twitter have embraced it with enthusiasm!
