It's been a whopping 102 years since Max Schreck's dreaded Count Orlok crawled out of the darkness and onto movie screens in F. W. Murnau's German Expressionist horror jewel Nosferatu. A whole century of vampire films have stalked the studios since then, from Dracula to Interview with the Vampire to Twilight and beyond. Now, The Witch and The Northman writer/director Robert Eggers takes a bite out of the legend.

An interpretation of Bram Stoker's Gothic horror masterpiece Dracula, Nosferatu looks to blend Eggers' signature folk horror chops with the creepy elements we expect from a vampire movie. The film will see Bill Skarsgård as the iconic Count Orlok, alongside Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Simon McBurney.

The teaser gives a dark and sinister taste of what's to come, sure to get your blood pumping in a deeply uncomfortable way.

Nosferatu hits cinemas Dec. 25.
