UFC 263 play-by-play and live results

GLENDALE, Ariz. – MMA Junkie is on scene and reporting live from Saturday’s UFC 263 event, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results beginning at 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. PT).

UFC 263 takes place at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN/ESPN+ and early prelims on ESPN+.

In the main event, middleweight champion Israel Adesanya (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) takes on Marvin Vettori (17-3-1 MMA, 7-2-1 UFC) in a rematch, but this time with Adesanya’s title on the line. In the co-feature, flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo (20-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) meets Brandon Moreno (18-5-2 MMA, 6-2-2 UFC) in a rematch after their draw this past December. Plus, Nate Diaz (20-12 MMA, 15-10 UFC) fights Leon Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) in a five-round featured bout at welterweight.

Jake Collier vs. Carlos Felipe

Round 1 – Collier walks across the cage and pumps out a jab as Felipe pounds on his own thigh. Collier staying busy with his hands to start. He adds in a few low kicks, as well. Felipe lands a big overhand right. He misses on a huge hook. Collier misses on a spinning backfist. Heavy strikes to start. Collier chops at the legs. He kicks high, but it’s blocked. Felipe now the one walking forward, and he’s landing to the body with the occasional shot up top, as well. Jab lands. Collier still working to the legs, but he’s fighting on the back foot. Felipe has some damage under his right eye. Collier’s jab has been effective. Felipe with a right to the body in the final minute. Collier with a flurry, but Felipe is avoiding the biggest blows. Felipe with a nice left to the body. They trade in the pocket, bringing the crowd to life, and Felipe yells for more. They finish on the feet. MMA Junkie gives the first to Felipe, 10-9.

Round 2 – Felipe again asks the crowd for some noise as he starts the round. Collier active early and lands a big left. Felipe sitting down on his big right hand, but it’s over the top. Collier with a spinning kick to the body. Felipe slaps his belly. Felipe slips a combo and dusts off his shoulder. He’s having some fun. Collier briefly loses his mouthpiece, but he’s back to work quickly. Felipe showboating as he strikes. He’s walking forward. He lands the right hand over the top. Collier has two punches blocked. Felipe is talking to him. Collier does grab the head and land a knee to the body. Jabs traded. Felipe with a right behind it. Collier still working the low kick. Crowd getting a little restless. Felipe confident and showboating but not keeping an incredibly high volume. Round ends, and Felipe yelling at Collier. MMA Junkie gives it again to Felipe, 10-9.

Round 3 – Collier again comes out aggressive but is quickly on the backfoot. Low kick from Collier, but Felipe with a right over the top. They briefly trade hooks in the pocket. Collier changes levels, but Felipe with a perfect sprawl, and they move back to the feet. Felipe jab knocks out the mouthpiece again. Felipe setting the tone on the restart. Three-punch combination. Uppercut scores. Collier does land a right hand, but Felipe comes back with two of his own. Jab scores for Collier. That continues to be his best weapon, but Felipe is pressing forward. Two minutes remaining. Felipe jabbing and moving well to slip his opponent’s strikes. Collier does score with a knee up the middle. Collier presses but gets tagged with a left. Right hands traded as they enter the final minutes.. Left hands traded. They’re swinging at the close. Felipe asks for the crowd again. He presses forward with punches. Felipe’s right eye closing quickly. Collier with a big kick to the body, and they trade punches to the end. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Felipe, 10-9, and awards him the fight 30-27.

Luigi Vendramini vs. Fares Ziam

Round 1 – Ziam takes the center, and Vendramini moving laterally and looking for angles. Vendramini throws a wild shot and then grabs the body but can’t get a takedown and has to let go. Vendramini with a low kick, but Ziam answers with a crisp jab. Ziam’s jab is sharp early. Vendramini’s nose already reddened. Vendramini keeping his head movement high. Ziam with a crisp lead hook. Vendramini with a left to the body. Single shots back and forth right now. Ziam still controlling from the center and lands a nice right hand. Vendramini tries to push away from the fence but ears a left hand. Ziam just very accurate. Crowd restless, but Vendramini is struggling to get past Ziam’s long punches. The jab scores. Right hand on the mark. Blood trickling down Vendramini’s nose. He just misses a high kick at the end. MMA Junkie gives the first to Ziam, 10-9.

Round 2 – Ziam again out to the center. Vendramini with nice head movement and footwork, but Ziam is dealing with it well. Vendramini turns up the aggression, and he gets inside once again, but Ziam able to pull away. Vendramini continues to press forward, and he lands a left hand. He’s having some success when he presses, but he has to be careful of the sharp strikes coming in reply. Ziam very dangerous at range. Ziam jab finds the mark. Vendramini continues to move well, and he’s landed a few low kicks. Ziam not really sitting down on his strikes, but he’s pinpoint. Vendramini changes levels and gets inside, but Ziam able to stay upright and battle the hands and break free. The jab is doing all the work for Ziam. He kicks to the legs, as well. Crowd boos in the final seconds of the round. Ziam apologizes at the end of the round. MMA Junkie gives it again to Ziam, 10-9.

Round 3 – Vendramini rushing forward at the start. He lands a right hand. It’s complete berserker mode. Crowd comes alive. He shoves Ziam to the canvas and follows to the top. Ziam on his back and has to hold tight to slow things down. Amazing start there for Vendramini. He pulls a leg out to side control. Ziam trying to frame. Vendramini steps over to mont. Ziam scrambles to regain half-guard. Vendramini trying to set up a guillotine from the top, but it’s not there. He lets it go and looks to step over to mount. Ziam blocks it. Vendramini thinking arm-triangle, but he can’t get it in place. Ziam recovers to guard. Two minutes left, and Vendramini trying to strike. Ziam finally gets his feet on the hips and pushes away. He scrambles back to the feet. Vendramini’s corner calling for aggression. Ziam trying to move around the cage and avoid another bullrush. Less than a minute. Ziam with the lateral shifting. Vendramini tags him with a right hand, but he needs more. He’s trying but can’t get a stationary target. Vendramini into the clinch to close. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Vendramini, 10-9, but awards the fight to Ziam, 29-28, in a decision this crowd is going to hate.

Chase Hooper vs. Steven Peterson

Round 1 – Peterson rushes forward with strikes, but Hooper there to answer and push him away. Peterson resets and lands a big right. Corner calling for aggression. Peterson rushes forward, and Hooper changes levels. Peterson able to push him away and land in side control, landing a few big elbows before backing away. Hooper in quickly as they stand, and he pulls guard. Peterson with a few strikes and he works back to his feet. Hooper stays with him, keeping the body wrapped and trying to slip to the back. Peterson uses the fence to prevent that. Peterson grabs the arms and pulls him down. Peterson patiently works to the right position to stand. Few inversions from Hooper, but he has to move back to the feet. He shoots inside on the restart. Peterson grabs the guillotine. Hooper pulls his head free and immediately grabs the leg. Peterson in trouble. He spins and rolls and knows he’s in a bad spot. Peterson continues to work on freeing the pressure but also lands a few punches, as well. Hooper scrambles up, and Peterson goes back into a leglock battle. Hooper postures to take top position, then drops for the leg again at the end. Round ends in a scramble. Wild times. MMA Junkie gives it to Peterson, 10-9.

Round 2 – Hooper has some damage under the left eye. He’s firing kicks and looking to get in tight. Crowd cheering his name. Punches traded. Hooper changes levels and gets in tight, but Peterson sprawls well. He doesn’t pull away, and they continue working in the clinch. Hooper maintains the bodylock. He wants the trip but can’t get it. Peterson works to the outside. He pulls free, but Hooper shoots. Peterson sprawls and grabs the guillotine. He falls to guard, but Hooper pops his head free. Peterson wisely rolls and scrambles back to the feet. Hooper wraps the body and falls to the canvas. Crowd chanting Hooper’s name again. He’s in full guard. Peterson looking to posture when Hooper lets the arms go, but Hooper threatening with butterfly guard. Hooper tries desperately to get a leg up high on the shoulder, but Peterson able to push the legs away. Hooper continues trying to turn for the arm. He gets in position, but Peterson pulls the limb free. Peterson punching in spots, including in the final seconds of the round. MMA Junkie gives it again to Peterson, 10-9.

Round 3 – Peterson out with a superman on a Hooper glove touch. Crowd hates that. Hooper punches his way in tight and dives at the legs. Peterson able to defend it, but now they’re working from the clinch. Hooper overhook looking to hold tight. Peterson battling on the outside. Hooper dangerous as he tries to step over the arm. Peterson with a trip, and Hooper pretty willingly hits the floor. Peterson on top with Hooper in half-guard underneath. Peterson staying busy with punchesPeterson sets up the arm-triangle. Hooper turns as Peterson knee-slides to side control. He continues to move rather than give up the back. They move to the feet. Hooper able to move to the back and drag the action to the floor. He’s got the body triangle in position and looking to attack the neck. Under a minute. Time working against him. Peterson trying desperately to turn inside. It takes quite the effort, but he is able to spin and take the top. Threat gone, and Peterson finishes on top. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Peterson, 10-9, and awards him the fight 30-27.

Matt Frevola vs. Terrance McKinney

Round 1 – McKinney moves out to the center. Two-punch combination lands, and Frevola drops. McKinney jumps on top with additional punches, and this thing is immediately over. Amazing. Then chaos follows. McKinney leaps the cage to celebrate, and then he comes down, he grabs his knee. Injured himself celebrating. Still a heck of a debut.

Alexis Davis vs. Pannie Kianzad

Round 1 – Kianzad walks forward and passes on a glove touch to land a left hand. They both trade punches in a flurry. Quick start. Kianzad with another left hand, and she grabs the clinch and presses the action to the fence. Davis defends well and pushes her away. Davis with low kicks on the restart, but Kianzad answering with big punches up top. Davis’ nose reddened. Kianzad again scores with left hand as Davis moves forward. Davis still willing to engage, but Kianzad is timing everything perfectly. She scores with a big right hand over a Davis low kick. Jabs traded. Davis with her own left hand. They’re trading, but Kianzad getting the best of it. Blood smeared on Davis’ face now. They both land right hands. Davis is pressing and engaging, but Davis is just a little sharper. Kianzad does have some damage, as well. They exchange at the close. MMA Junkie gives the first to Kianzad, 10-9.

Round 2 – Davis out quickly. They’re trading immediately. Crisp right lands for Kianzad. Davis is pressing forward with no concern, but Kianzad in answering in fine fashion. Another big right scores. Jab lands for Kianzad. Davis starting to hesitate now a little as she advances. She’s getting tagged every time she moves forward. She’s scoring some, as well, but she’s taking the worst of it. Kianzad happy to wait and just time the advances, which she’s doing perfectly. Leaping left for Kianzad. Right hand snaps Davis’s head back. Still, Davis is pushing forward and looking to strike. Davis with a kick to the body. She’s not backing down. Kianzad does have some blood streaming down her nose. Davis with a very late trip, and she scores a few punches from the top, but MMA Junkie still gives the round to Kianzad, 10-9.

Round 3 – Davis pressing immediately again, but it’s Kianzad landing the more precise blows. Jabs traded. They’re just going back and forth on the feet without even a tease of a takedown. Davis is the aggressor, but she’s walking into flurries of counters. Davis continues chopping at the legs and is having success there. Davis is relentless with her forward movement, and she kicks the body. Left hands traded. Davis just fearless. She tries to grab the body, but it’s not there. Kianzad’s volume has dropped a little, but she still seems to be landing the best shots. Under a minute.Crisp right hand for Kianzad. Davis tries again to wrap the body but can’t. Flurry traded, and Kianzad ends it with a left. Kianzad catches a kick and lands a right. They trade until the final bell. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Kianzad, 10-9, and awards her the fight 30-27.

Hakeem Dawodu vs. Movsar Evloev

Round 1 – Jabs traded. Evloev with a big overhand right that scores. Evloev moving more laterally, as Dawodu working straight down the middle. Evloev creates and angle and scores a left. Jabs traded. Evloev deep on a single. Great balance from Dawodu. Evloev sweeps the other leg out. Dawodu scrambles, but Evloev rushes forward to stay tight. Evloev lifts him high in the air and slams him to the canvas. He slips around to the back. Dawodu trying to defend, but Evloev wants the squeeze. Dawodu keeps the chin tucked and turns, and Evloev lets go. Still, Evloev on the back. He’s landing short punches and trying to open Dawodu for a choke. Dawodu refusing to allow that. Dawodu doing everything right in defense, but he’s not able to counter at all. Dawodu punches a bit more. Dawodu scrambles to his feet at the close but can’t break free before the bell. MMA Junkie gives the first to Evloev, 10-9.

Round 2 – Evloev throws an overhand right and dives on the legs, getting the quick takedown. Dawodu scrambles to his feet, but Evloev slips to the back, where he lifts his opponent and slams him to the canvas. Evloev immediately hunting the choke once again. Dawodu scrambles up, but he can’t create any space. Evloev drags him to the canvas and is again on the back. He squeezes despite being off to the side but can’t get the choke. Crowd wants the fight back on the feet, but Evloev is on the back. Dawodu trying to turn inside, but he can’t do it. Evloev keeping him trapped and landing short punches. He looks for the choke, but it’s not there. Dawodu finally able to turn, but Evloev with a quick adjustment to score a reversal with a slick transition. Dawodu turning and rolling and trying to get free, but he’s getting punches in the meantime. Round ends there, and MMA Junkie gives it to Evloev, 10-9.

Round 3 = Dawodu with a few high kicks to open. THey’re blocked, but he clearly needs to throw. Evloev misses with punches over the top. Dawodu kicks the leg. Evloev trying to work his way into the clinch. Dawodu able to pull free. Dawodu’s corner says Evloev is slowing. Evloev dives for a leg, but Dawodu sprawls perfectly. Evloev with a few fakes as he tries to get inside, but Dawodu is playing them perfectly right now. Evloev fakes a takedown and lands a left hand. Dawodu having some success with his punches. Damage under Evloev’s left eye. Quick clinch, but Dawodu pulls away. Evloev with a low kick. They’re trading punches now. Dawodu does seem the fresher man.He lands a straight left. Evloev staggers a bit. Crowd comes alive, and Evloev says he’s fine. Dawodu tags him again. Less than a minute, and Evloev ducks down. He’s got the takedown, much to the crowd’s disapproval. Evloev slips around to the back. Dawodu battles his way back to the feet. Evloev takes him down again. Evloev postures and finishes with a hammerfist at the bell. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Dawodu, 10-9, but awards the fight to Evloev, 29-28.

Joanne Calderwood vs. Lauren Murphy

Round 1 – Calderwood misses on a low kick, and Murphy looks to move forward with punches. Front kick from Calderwood followed by a spinning backfist that crashes into chest. Murphy using the front kick to keep space. Murphy rushes forward and presses her to the cage. They trade knees inside and battle for position, with Murphy eventually backing away. Calderwood kicking the legs. They trade left hands. Murphy scores with a straight left and a right behind it. They trade punches inside, and Murphy seems to have the power edge. Still, Calderwood using long, straight shots to land. Calderwood with a nice kick to the body. Murphy works to the Thai clinch, and they trade knees inside before backing away. Overhand right lands from Murphy. Calderwood fakes a takedown and lands a right hand. Murphy takes a shot as she moves into the clinch at the bell. They end there. MMA Junkie gives a close one to Calderwood, 10-9.

Round 2 – Murphy pressing again, but Calderwood scores with a nice kick tot he body. Murphy trying to press, but Calderwood moving well and lands a crisp right hand. Murphy changes levels and gets deep on a single. She drives the action to the fence. Calderwood defending well and showing solid balance, but Murphy adjusts and is able to drag the action to the canvas. Calderwood on her side, and Murphy steps over the legs. Murphy controlling the wrist with her left hand and landing short punches and elbows with her right. Murphy securing the position on the back. Calderwood battling the hands and turns inside,, settling on to her back. Murphy trying to advance to mount but can’t get there. Instead, she elbows the body and leg a bit. Calderwood can’t get herself free. She’s trying to dig an underhook and escape, but Murphy heavy on top. Murphy landing punches as she controls and keeps the action on the canvas. Round ends there, and MMA Junkie gives it to Murphy, 10-9.

Round 3 – Calderwood out to the center, and she lands a clean right hand. Murphy tries to advance, but Calderwood punches as she moves inside. They trade left hands. Calderwood with a nice kick to the body. Murphy changes level, but Calderwood able to push her away and kick again to the body. Calderwood with the jab. She’s kicking the leg, as well. Murphy trying to push through it. Murphy again leans down, but Calderwood able to stop the takedown and land a knee. Murphy rushes again, but Calderwood scores with an uppercut. Murphy into the Thai clinch, and they trade knees. Calderwood finally pulls away. Calderwood’s jab and right hand scoring. Murphy trying to walk through it, but she can’t get hold of anything. One minute left. Murphy’s face showing the wear. Calderwood’s jab and straight have been marking it over and over. Calderwood with a superman punch. Spinning backfist blocked. They trade punches to close. MMA Junkie gives the final round to Calderwood, 10-9, and awards her the fight 29-28.

Eryk Anders vs. Darren Stewart

Round 1 – Stewart bouncing lightly and switches stances. He’s in the center as Anders moves on the outside. Stewart throws a few light low kicks as he moves. He shows a few square stances but eventually slides next to the fence. Anders tries to press forward, and Stewart grabs the underhooks and spina him to the cage. They work for position there, and the crowd boos. Stewart tries to change levels, but Anders defends it well and reverses the position, moving to the outside. They continue to jockey for position there. Neither man able to much here. Crowd boos even louder as they enter the final minute. Stewart finally scores the trip and sets up on top. Anders trying to control a wrist underneath, but Stewart is on top, where he stays until the bell. MMA Junkie gives it to Stewart, 10-9.

Round 2 – Anders a little more aggressive on the feet, and he throws a left hand. He then fakes a takedown and lands another. From there, he drives into the clinch. They’re working against the fence. Crowd boos immediately. Referee Jason Herzog gives them a little time but is pretty quick to call for a reset. On the restart, they fire a few punches but immediately clinch again. It remains a stalemate, and Stewart backs away. Anders pressing with punches. They trade a few shots before Anders is clinching from the outside again. Stewart motions to Herzog as the crowd boos, and they finally break apart. Stewart kicks the leg. He’s moving well. They trade big lefts before Anders pushes inside once again. He changes levels briefly and has the single. Not there, and Stewart spins off and away. Punches traded at the end. MMA Junkie leans toward Anders, 10-9.

Round 3 – Anders with a quick left hand and then a right moments later. Stewart moving well, and he kicks the leg. Stewart ducks under a punch and grabs the body and scores a powerful trip. Anders muscles his way out of that position and moves to the top, where he postures to punch. Stewart trying to turn to his hips, but Anders drives him back down and lands a few big left hands. Stewart looking to escape to his feet, but Anders adjusts well to keep him on the floor and drives in a few left hands. Anders not doing a ton of damage, but he’s staying busy enough to keep the dominant position. He’s trying to set up the arm-triangle choke. Not there, so he’s punching away. He tries to slip to the back. Stewart defends the choke but winds up taking damage from punches. Stewart trying to move and gets to his knees in the final minute. Dober setting the tone, and Riddell swinging back. Spirited exchanges, but Dober getting the best right now. Riddell cut on the left side of his forehead. Riddell steps off and lands a sneaky right hand. Kicks traded. Dober with a right hand. Riddell right hand scores and draws a smile from Dober. Riddell battling back late. Round 2 – They engage again right away. Both fake takedowns but end up swinging. Big shots landed in an opening flurry. Riddell does shoot, but Dober sprawl well. Riddell shakes it off and lands a few bug counters on the feet. Dober changes levels and gets the takedown. He tries to take the back as Riddell stands, but he’s high, and that allows Riddell to slip free and reverse. Dober on a knee but landing a few elbows inside. He works up to his feet, with Riddell controlling from the outside. Nothin there, so they break away. Riddell has blood rolling down his nose. Round 3 – Riddell quick to the body. Dober lands clean over his opponent’s low kick. Dober pressing, but RiddellX with a nice counter. Dober changes level and wants the takedown. Riddell able to defend, and we reset. Riddell with a nice kick to the body. Big hooks traded. Both are checking the chin. Riddell with a sharp low kick, but Dober counters with big punches. Riddell with a nice fake into a crisp right. Double jab for Dober. Big body kick for Riddell. They just continue going punch for punch. Dober high kick countered with a straight punch. Dober dives for a takedown. Riddell stuffs it. Dober walking forward and pressing with punches. He lands, but Riddell lands right back. it’s just trading punches. Riddell slips on a kick but pops back up. Final minute. Punches traded, and Dober staggers a bit. Riddell with a right hand. Dober needs a takedown. Not there. Riddell rolls him over and grabs the crucifix. he turns again and finishes on top, punching away until the bell. Amazing fight. Craig grabs hold of the arms and drags the action to the canvas. Hill trying to pull free, but the right arm is trapped. He looks to attack it there with an omo plata. Craig switches to the left in a scramble. Armbar in place, and Craig rolls and torques it. Gruesome. Arm is clearly broken. Hill refuses to tap. Craig points it out, but he doesn’t stop. He switches to the triangle. Hill refuses to quit. Craig has to pound away with elbows, and finally referee Al Guinee steps in. Not good for Hill.

He’s able to reach down and grab the left leg. Muhammad hops to the fence, and Maia switches to a double. He’s able to pull Muhammad to a seated position. Muhammad patient as he’s there, and he works back to his feet. Once there, he’s able to extract the leg and reset. He scores with a right hand. Maia dives for the leg, but Muhammad pushes him away. Maia fakes the takedown and lands a left hand. Maia ducks a punch and gets the left leg again. Muhammad hops to the fence. He works hard to pull the leg free, and we reset again. Muhammad lands a stiff jab. Muhammad with nice head movement and leaps in with a left. Maia grabs the left leg again and is looking for the takedown. Muhammad continues to defend well, and the crowd boos the clinchwork. Muhammad pulls away in the final seconds and throws a few kicks. MMA Junkie gives a close first to Muhammad, 10-9.

Round 2 – Maia in the center and looking to get close. Muhammad with a low stance and trying to strike a bit but also incredibly aware of the takedown. Maia does reach down from range, but Muhammad pushes him away and punches. Crowd getting restless. Muhammad not overcommitting to his strikes for fear of the takedown, but Maia not really getting close. Maia fakes the takedown and gets Muhammad off-balance, but he can’t get inside. Two right hands land fro Muhammad. Maia answers with a left. Maia rushes from range, but it’s not there. Muhammad scores with a right. Maia finally gets hold of the left leg. He squeezes it between his own legs as Muhammad defends against the fence. Muhammad with a few elbows there. Round ends, and MMA Junkie gives it to Muhammad, 10-9.

Round 3 – Maia needs to make something happen. He slips under a punch and gets in on a leg, but Muhammad digs under and turns him away. Back in the center. Muhammad has a high kick blocked. He lands a right hand, and Maia staggers a bit. Muhammad with a couple of left hands that scores. Maia dives in, but Muhammad feels it and turns and pulls away. Maia trying to press, but he just can’t get that single. Muhammad stuffing it and making him pay with punches. Muhammad trying to up the volume now and lands a left, followed by an uppercut. Maia just can’t get inside. He wraps the body and again gets the left leg, but Muhammad pulls away with ease. One minute left, and the crowd boos as Maia gets inside for another attempt, but Muhammad backs to the cage and defends it well. Frustrating night for Maia after a long layoff. Diaz dropping his hands and turning his back, then rushing forward with surprise attacks. Edwards doesn’t really bite. Edwards patient to start.He does kick the legs a bit. Diaz’s wild movements early making him a little tough to track. He’s moving side to side but spending a lot of time near the cage. Edwards with a crisp two punches. He kicks the leg again. Diaz’s right knee already sporting some redness around it. Diaz punches a bit and then gestures at Edwards as he moves away. They move to the clinch. Edwards able to trip the action to the floor and move to the back. He’s got one hook in. Diaz fires a few punches and elbows back and tries to escape. He gets to a kneeling position, but Edwards is on his back. Diaz defends well and rolls, and Edwards backs away. Diaz returns to the feet, and we finish there. MMA Junkie gives the first to Edwards, 10-9.

Round 2 – Diaz a little more aggressive to open. Edwards kicks his leg. Diaz again turning his back and walking, but Edwards doesn’t chase. Edwards holding the center. He scores with a clean right as Diaz tries to advance. Edwards to the body, and Diaz fakes a liver shot, but Edwards doesn’t chase. Diaz smiles and then moves forward. Edwards chops the legs again. Diaz punches, but Edwards scores with the counter. They trade low kicks. Punches traded, and they’re in close quarters, so Edwards clinches. Diaz with short punches, but Edwards slips under and to the other side and trip Diaz to the floor. Edwards on top and postures. Diaz grabs the leg, and Edwards has to bail. Diaz nearly gets him off-balance for a sweep, but Edwards pulls up and moves away. Diaz to the feet. Diaz turns his back and pouts his hands on his hips. Edwards kicks at his butt. Diaz engages, and Edwards clips him with a left. Diaz taking some big shots, but he’s walking forward. Round ends with Edwards landing an elbow. MMA Junkie gives the round to Edwards, 10-9.

Round 3 – Diaz jumps out with a lead right. Diaz kicks, but Edwards tags him with a stiff jab that knocks him off-balance. Diaz starting to press a little more. He pushes into the clinch and moves the fight to the cage. Edwards defends well there, and they trade some knees before breaking away. Edwards kicks the leg. He wants room to work, but Diaz pressing. Edwards clinches and once again slips under and drags the action to the canvas. Edwards with a few elbows as he postures, and Diaz is cut. Blood starting to stream down his face. Edwards backs away and eventually lets Diaz stand. Diaz’s face covered in blood, and it’s running down his chest. he’s still moving forward. Diaz lands a big left, but Edwards clinches again and slips under the arm and drags the action to the floor. Diaz kneeling and trying to roll. Edwards holding from the back. He tries to attack the neck, but Diaz stands Edwards scores with an elbows before pulling back to the center. Ton of damage around Diaz’s left eye. MMA Junkie gives it again to Edwards, 10-9.

Round 4 – Cut over Diaz’s left eye is bad, but he’s off his stool quickly and walking forward. Edwards lands a knee to the body. He scores with a left hand. Diaz isn’t hesitating, but that left eye is closing. Edwards in the center and drops his hands. Diaz walks forward but eats a huge left hand that sees him stagger. Edwards with a kick to the body.He scores with a right hand. Edwards completely confident right now on the feet. He foot sweeps Diaz to the floor and doesn’t bother to follow. Diaz starting to turn his back again and try the trickery. Edwards chops the leg. Edwards just calmly picking Diaz apart. He misses with a huge left elbow. Despite the damage, Diaz walks forward and does land a left hand. They clinch briefly. Diaz fakes a low kick and lands two punches. Edwards answers with a huge left hand. Diaz trying to taunt a bit and rattle Edwards, but it’s not working. Edwards methodically walking him down. Round ends on the feet, and MMA Junkie gives it to Edwards, 10-9.

Round 5 – Both men raise their arms and flex. Diaz rushes out but is immediately tagged with two punches. Another nasty foot sweep dumps him on the canvas. Edwards misses on two huge punches once Diaz is up. He wants the finish. Diaz moving froward, but his face is a mess. Damage around the left eye is significant. HIs shorts are soaked in blood, but he’s trying to advance. Edwards tags him with a left hand. Crowd comes alive as Diaz walks forward, firing punches, and he winds up in the clinch. Edwards controls the arms and turns off. He backs away and lands a. big kick to the body. Massive left for Edwards. Uppercut and another huge left. Diaz will not go down. He sets up in front of Edwards and asks for more. Diaz is trying to get something done. He lands a left, and Edwards staggers. He’s hurt. Diaz is pressing. Edwards in survival mode. One moment changed everything. Diaz pushing as Edwards tries to survive. he gets too close, and Edwards clinches. Diaz pulls away and is unloading punches. Final seconds tick away. Unbelievable. There is no one like Diaz. MMA Junkie gives Diaz the final round, 10-9, but awards the fight to Edwards, 49-46.

Brief clinch, but nothing there. Figueiredo with a step-in elbow but gets countered with a left. Moreno moving incredibly well. He lands a right hand. Figueiredo misses a big hook kick. Moreno with a clean left, and Figueiredo hits the deck. Moreno follows. Figueiredo holding on, trying to tie things up.He works in a butterfly guard. Whizzer and hard pressure gets him to the feet. Figueiredo misses a right hand. He looks to have recovered well. They end on the feet. Great round for Moreno, and MMA Junkie gives it to him, 10-9.

Round 2 – Moreno out quickly and looking to engage. They trade punches, and Figueiredo changes levels and is able to drive the action to the canvas. Moreno tries to scramble, but Figueiredo able to establish the dominant position. Moreno has a half-guard, but he’s on his side, and Figueiredo is holding the head. Crowd booing. Figueiredo backs aways to advance. Scramble, and Figueiredo wants the guillotine. Not there, so he lets it go and works to his feet. Moreno up with him and slips to the back. Moreno drags him off the fence and to the floor. He tries to grab the neck, but Figueiredo turns and settles on his back. Figueiredo has full guard. Figueiredo trying to frame and elbow from his back. Moreno trying to posture. Scramble nearly sees Figueiredo get free, but Moreno threatens his back. He has to roll to escape, and Moreno again on top. They finish with Moreno on top but with some real damage around his left eye. MMA Junkie gives that one to Figueiredo, 10-9.

Round 3 – Figueiredo throwing out some feints as he stays at distance early. Moreno works the ab. Figueiredo answers with his own and kicks to the body. More quick jabs from Moreno. Low kick, but Figueiredo with a right over the top. Moreno leaps with a right hand and then drives forward for the takedown. He gets Figueiredo off-balance and slips to the back. Right arm around the neck, and Moreno wants the squeeze. It’s not there, but he’s got a bodylock in place and is holding Figueiredo there. Moreno punches a bit and forces Figueiredo to move. Moreno adjusts the choke. It’s in. He hides the hand behind the head. Figueiredo can’t peel it away. He thinks tap, then goes back to peel it away. Still can’t find it, and he has to tap. Moreno is the UFC’s first Mexican-born champion, and the emotion pours out.

Vettori not afraid to mix it up in tight, but Adesanya landing the better shots. Adesanya high kick blocked. Adesanya back to the leg, which is already showing some redness. Round 2 – Adesanya back on the lead leg early. Vettori answers. He’a looking to stay in Adesanya’s face. Vettori swinging, but Adesanya is countering well. Crisp punches landing. Vettori lands a left but gets caught with a right, as well. Adesanya continuing to pick apart the leg, as well. Vettori drops down and drives forward. Adesanya sprawls against the cage and lands a few punches and elbows before pulling away. Vettori pressing with strikes, but Adesanya slipping them well. Adesanya question mark kick misses. High kick blocked. Vettori firing out punches, but Adesanya head movement on point. Vettori chasing, but Adesanya is slipping with relative ease and looks completely dialed in. Vettori does land a right hand, and then he changes levels again and wants the double. Adesanya with a wide stance against the cage to stay upright. Eventually, he breaks free and slips away. They trade punches at the end, but Adesanya’s movement making him very hard to hit. MMA Junkie gives it again to Adesanya, 10-9.

Round 3 – Adesanya with a quick right hand. Vettori changes levels and drives forward, getting the takedown he wants. He sets up on top and gets control of the head. Adesanya with half-guard underneath. Vettori postures with quick punches but then settles back down to maintain control. Adesanya bucks to sweep. It works, but Vettori switches over to the back. He wants the choke, but Adesanya is able to turn inside. He’s now on top. Adesanya postures to strike. Vettori turns to attack the leg. Adesanya spins with it. Scramble, and we return to the feet. Vettori complains of an eyepoke, but he stops only briefly.On the restart, Adesanya lands a crisp right hand. The low kick buckled Vettori’s right leg. Vettori trying to keep the pressure high. Adesanya decimating that lead leg. Vettori does land a right hand. Adesanya misses with a high kick and smiles. Vettori rushes forward with punches that miss. Adesanya misses over the top with a kick. Vettori slips briefly, and Adesanya punches him as he scrambles up. Vettori is trying pr press with punches, but he’s coming up short. Adesanya front kick lands to the groin, and we get a timeout. Adesanya apologizes. Vettori seems OK. Just one tick left on the clock, so the restart is just a glove touch. MMA Junkie gives it again to Adesanya, 10-9.

Round 4 – Vettori pressure quickly. Adesanya goes after the leg right away. Vettori is doing anything he can to get some offense going, but Adesanya’s is masterful at the moment. Vettori changes levels and gets his arms around the legs, but Adesanya wide stance keeps him upright against the cage. Vettori sticks with it and is able to get the trip, but Adesanya hits an immediate sweep to the top and backs away. Vettori forced to stand. He gets inside again, but Adesanya slips away with relative ease. Adesanya trying to look for angles to finish this fight. Crowd chanting “Izzy!” Vettori lands a low kick. Vettori just can’t get much going. Quick jab scores for Adesanya, followed by a low kick. Vettori presses and lands a few punches, but they’re just glancing blows. One minute left, and Vettori changes levels again and drives the action to the cage. Adesanya sprawls there. He pats Vettori on the butt before the bell. MMA Junkie gives it again to Adesanya, 10-9.

Round 5 – Adesanya has a high kick blocked. Vettori trying to press. Adesanya kicks the leg. Vettori ducks for the takedown. Adesanya again sprawls against the cage and is able to stay upright. They work in the clinch. Adesanya able to dig an underhook, and Vettori eventually backs away. Crowd continues to chant Adesanya’s name. He misses a high kick. Adesanya trying to land the big shot, but Vettori proving tough. Vettori throws a right hand. Adesanya grabs his eye briefly then lets it go and smiles. Adesanya moving at will in the cage. Vettori moves inside again. He’s desperate for the takedown. He gets Adesanya to a knee, but that’s about it. Adesanya pops back up, and Vettori continues to hold the bodylock. Adesanya lands a few short punches inside, but it’s a stalemate, and referee Marc Goddard resets them. Less than a minute, and Adesanya lands a right. High kick blocked. He’d like to finish it if he cane. Front kick. Low kick. Right hand. Vettori shoots inside one last time, but nothing going. Fight ends there.
