He was introduced to the love of his life, Kaosilla, by their grandmothers. They wed in 1956 and were married for 68 years.

Visitation is Monday, Aug. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Visitation is Sunday, Aug. 4, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Caggiano Memorial Home for Funerals, 62 Grove St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 1 Munn St.

Marianne Russo of Point Pleasant Beach, a former resident of Montclair and an elementary school teacher for 40 years, died on July 26, 2024. She was born into a large, extended Italian family, the DiGeronimos and Cestones. Her childhood was spent in the company of her many cousins, who were amongst her closest friends. Sunday family dinners, at which bowls of pasta were tossed down a long table that spanned two rooms, easily included 50 people.

Mr. Slaughter was employed at the Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton. After many years of service, he retired from the federal Department of Defense.

Visitation is at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Oratory, 94 Pine St., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at the church at 10. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 851 Valley Road.
