FEAST OF ST. MICHAEL, ST. GABRIEL & ST. RAPHAEL,
“THE ARCHANGELS”
Bless the Lord, all you his angels, mighty in power, fulfilling his word, and heeding his voice!
Words which we pray in the Entrance Antiphon of today’s Mass of the Feast of the three Archangels whom the entire Church venerates in its tradition.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that the “existence of the spiritual, non-corporeal beings that Sacred Scripture usually calls ‘angels’ is a truth of faith.
The witness of Scripture is as clear as the unanimity of Tradition. St. Augustine says: ‘Angel’ is the name of their office, not of their nature…With their whole beings the angels are servants and messengers of God. Because they ‘always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven’ they are the ‘mighty ones who do his word, hearkening to the voice of his word (nn. 328-329).’”
⚜ MICHAEL whose name in Hebrew means ‘WHO IS LIKE GOD?’ was the archangel who fought against Satan and all his evil angels. He is our protector against the devil. He is also known as “the prince of the heavenly host” and is usually depicted as a strong warrior, dressed in armor and wearing sandals.
His name appears in the Scripture four times, twice in the Book of Daniel, and once each in the Epistle of St. Jude and the Book of Revelation.
From Revelation 12: 7-12 we learn of the battle in heaven, with St. Michael and his angels combatting Lucifer and the other fallen angels (or devils).
We invoke St. Michael to help us in our fight against Satan; to rescue souls from Satan, especially at the hour of death; to be the champion of the Jews in the Old Testament and now Christians; and to bring souls to judgment.
⚜ GABRIEL whose name means ‘STRENGTH OF GOD’ was sent to announce to Zachariah the coming birth of John the Baptist, and to Mary, the birth of Jesus. In the Old Testament, he was sent to Daniel to explain a vision concerning the Messiah.
⚜ RAPHAEL whose name means ‘MEDICINE OF GOD’ is the archangel who took care of Tobias on his journey, as a healer and fellow traveler (cfr. Tobit 3:17; 12:15). Tradition also holds that Raphael is the angel that stirred the waters at the healing sheep pool in Bethesda.

Dear friends, God, as a palpable sign of His Love for us, sent us his servants and messengers, the Archangels and the Angels, to protect and help us in our daily struggles against the evil one in our path towards heaven.
St. Gregory the Great said: “Whenever something is to be done needing great power, Michael is sent forth so that from his action and from his name we can understand that no one can do what God can do.” This is the reason why we should make it a habit to pray to St. Michael:
St Michael, Archangel, defend us in battle and be our safe guard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And do you 0 prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen (Prayer to St Michael).
Let us have recourse and devotion to the Archangels and Angels to help us make good use of our freedom, as they did, when they decided and chose God for eternity and with them, let us pray:
Lord, I want to serve you as well with my entire being and with all my life. I earnestly desire to make good use of my freedom: choosing what is good, choosing You, obeying and loving You in every decision, choice and action that I make, because You are my God whom I love and adore!

The Angels and God are the ones who truly care for us. That is why they gave us a specific course in our lives. It is said that God has a book written for each of us. In that book is written my life, your life, and all our lives. The Archangels Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, Uriel, and Metatron are Angels of high rank. People who carry the Archangel’s names are the ones who have them permanently next to them. God helps everyone. Archangels help everyone, but people must have faith.

Archangel Gabriel

Archangel Michael means “Who is like God?” And the right answer to this question is “nobody”. Because we all know that God is the image of perfection. Now, his mission is to watch over us and to give us strength to overcome each obstacle in our life. The Angels are His messengers and it is known that angels escort people to heaven when they die.
The Archangel Michael is the most famous one. Everybody has heard of him, but does everybody know how he can help us?
He protects us in many situations. He is known to be there, always, next to our Guardian Angel. If you are prone to have a car accident, Archangel Michael is there to help you prevent it.
He also protects our possessions.
From the Archangels Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, Uriel, and Metatron, it is Michael who is the guide of our life because if we pray for guidance and help in a specific hard moment of our life, he will come and he will show us the right path, and we can make the right decision.
Royal purple is Archangel Michael’s color, so you should wear this color if you want to be protected by him.
Archangel Raphael
Each of the Archangels Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, Uriel, and Metatron has the power of healing, but Archangel Raphael has the supreme power of healing the soul. Think about the moment when your soul hurt so much that you didn’t know what to do. Archangel Raphael means “God heals!”
Do you wish to pray to Archangel Raphael for help? Say these words: “Please, Archangel Raphael, help my soul heal!” You will find your inner peace, you will see the bright side of the problem you have and you will feel better. You will find solutions and in the end you will be healed.

Archangel Uriel
Archangel Uriel is the most mysterious of the Archangels Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, Uriel, and Metatron. Uriel means “God is my light”. If you have a child, name him or her Uriel. He or she will be protected by this Archangel and will be close to God more than anyone.
The Book of Enoch tells us that Uriel was assigned to protect humankind in the time of The Watchers. The Watchers were a group of fallen angels. They were divided into bad angels and good angels and Uriel had to protect people from bad watchers.
His color is yellow and his gem is amber. Amber is such a warm colored gem and when you look at it you really see God there. Wear amber and yellow and you will be protected.

Archangel Metatron
So rare this name, but he is one of the Archangels Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, Uriel, and Metatron who can help you if you have problems. He was a pious prophet who was rewarded with the title of Archangel for all the good things he did for people on Earth. He is among the few Archangels that have a special name like this.
Metatron is the Archangel you should call on if you feel without energy. Maybe it is one of those days when you worked so much and you feel tired. Many people that have children also have these kinds of days, and they go home and all the things make them mad: the children, the house, the people around them. If you have one of these days, say these words: “Please, Archangel Metatron, help me get organized and motivated!” You will feel that you know exactly what to do and it seems that you have a to-do list written in your mind and you can control all the tasks you have on the list.
