New on Netflix This Week: April 23-April 29 - Netflix Tudum
- The last episodes for Ozark and Grace and Frankie are finally here.April 29, 2022
All good things must come to an end. Well, maybe trying to escape a Mexican drug cartel isn’t exactly the best situation to be in, but here’s to hoping the Byrde family can finally get out of this long, messy ordeal. At last, Ozark Season 4, Part 2 is finally here to close out the series. From drug lords to money laundering, Jason Bateman and Laura Linney have been through quite the ringer — and they’re definitely going to need a good family therapist after all of this. Another series we’re saying farewell to this week is Grace and Frankie, our longest-running series with 94 episodes. The queens of the coastal grandmother look have made us laugh and cry for seven years, and now it’s time to pour one out to celebrate the dynamic duo. If you’re not quite ready to say goodbye yet, check out other new titles like Silverton Siege, a thriller about South Africa’s anti-apartheid freedom fighters, and Rumspringa, a German coming-of-age comedy about an Amish teen discovering himself in Berlin. For more releases from this week, keep scrolling for the full list.
4/27 Silverton Siege What it is: Inspired by the true event that sparked the Free Mandela movement, the South African drama follows three anti-apartheid freedom fighters who take a bank hostage and demand for societal liberation for Black South Africans.
Why you should watch it: Although Silverton Siege takes creative liberties from the actual event that took place in 1980, it doesn’t stray away from South Africa’s apartheid history. The bank hostages include an African American boxing promoter, a woman with albinism and a white supervisor who’s the daughter of a politician. Through these different characters, the film explores how South Africa’s once legal system of racial segregation impacted its people and how they interacted with the rest of the world. “What I looked for was the humanity of these guys. They are lovers. They are young. They have relationships,” director Mandla Dube recently told Tudum. “In the bank, they find other complex human beings who also have their own challenges. If you start connecting the dots of their humanity, you’re going to have an emotional roller coaster of people trusting, mistrusting and trying to survive.”

4/29 Ozark, Season 4, Part 2 What it is: It’s time to say goodbye to the Byrde family. Picking up after Part 1, the final installment of Ozark is filled with pure rage, revenge and Marty and Wendy’s last attempt to escape the cartel.
Why you should watch it: You’re scrolling through TikTok and you hear a piercing scream, “If you wanna stop me, you’re gonna have to fuckin' kill me!” Julia Garner’s blood-boiling line delivery from Part 1 went viral earlier this year, and the rage only continues in Part 2. When we last saw Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy (Laura Linney), they just struck a potential deal with the FBI to help them escape the Mexican drug cartel and legal consequences. However, their saving grace is jeopardized when Ruth (Garner) loses it after discovering the bodies of Wyatt and Darlene. As the series comes to a close, will all hell break loose as Ruth gets her revenge? More importantly, will the Byrde family actually escape?
For fans of: You, House of Cards, El Camino
4/29 Grace and Frankie, Season 7 — The Final Episodes What it is: Grace and Frankie is ending after seven years, but the adventures aren’t over yet. In the final episodes, the dynamic duo toasts to their final hurrah and face the thought of a future without each other.
Why you should watch it: Maybe having your husbands come out as gay for each other isn’t the worst thing that could happen. For Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin), it was probably their biggest blessing. As Netflix’s longest-running series with 94 episodes, Grace and Frankie has taken viewers on quite the roller coaster ride of emotions over the past seven years. When we last saw the beloved pair, they were dealing with a money laundering scheme and the FBI. In their final chapter, the two friends can finally sit back and relax (just a bit) with a cocktail as they ponder their future together. If you’re experiencing the feels, just think about what Grace and Frankie would say, “Fuck it.”
For fans of: Dead to Me, Good Girls, Sweet Magnolias
Rumspringa What it is: In this German coming-of-age film, a young Amish man travels to Berlin on a rite of passage. Upon arriving at the airport, his luggage containing the family Bible is accidentally snatched up by a stranger. As he tries to get the heirloom back, he meets new friends and lovers whose way of living challenges his own Amish values.
Why you should watch it: You’re probably familiar with Rumspringa if you’ve watched reality shows like Breaking Amish or Return to Amish. The term refers to a period of adolescence when Amish teens are allowed to explore outside of their community before making a decision to commit to the church. Jacob (Jonas Holdenrieder) is eager to leave for his Rumspringa. At home, he can’t even win over girls from Bible study. To make matters worse, the only girl he’s ever had a crush on chose to marry his brother. In Berlin, however, Jacob’s worldview is about to change. His new roommate Alf (Timur Bartels) couldn’t be more different — he’s a womanizer and an unmotivated architecture student. As Alf helps Jacob explore his newfound freedom, the Amish teen also gives his new friend the nudge to pursue his dreams. Although Jacob is clearly a fish out of water, he ultimately learns that anyone can build their own community outside of the one they grew up in.
