It’s Agatha Christie, for a whole new generation.
Check the clock(s) — the time has come for a thrilling new adaptation of the Queen of Crime’s The Seven Dials Mystery. Entirely Christie at its core for its core, the upcoming funny and suspenseful series is penned by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall (Doctor Who) and executive produced by Suzanne Mackie (The Crown) and Chris Sussman (Good Omens). Chris Sweeney (The Tourist, Back to Life) will executive produce and direct the three-part series that’s set to thrill Agatha Christie fans, old and new.
BAFTA Rising Star Award winner Mia McKenna-Bruce (How to Have Sex, Persuasion) leads the cast of the witty, epic, and fast-paced drama as Bundle, a young, determined sleuth. “Chris Chibnall’s scripts are brilliant, and I am thrilled to be part of this new interpretation of the iconic Agatha Christie’s storytelling,” said Bruce.
Join the investigation of The Seven Dials Mystery below:
England. 1925. At a lavish country house party, a practical joke appears to have gone horribly, murderously wrong. It will be up to the unlikeliest of sleuths — the fizzingly inquisitive Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent (Bruce) — to unravel a chilling plot that will change her life, cracking wide open the country house mystery.
Bruce is joined by top British talent, including Helena Bonham Carter (One Life, Nolly) as Lady Caterham, Martin Freeman (The Responder, Black Panther) as Battle, and Edward Bluemel (My Lady Jane, Killing Eve).
In addition to writing the series’ scripts, Chibnall will also executive produce the series through his company Imaginary Friends. The Seven Dials Mystery is the first series to go into production with Mackie’s Orchid Pictures banner. Mackie founded Orchid Pictures in 2020 with the goal of bringing stories from both up-and-coming and award-winning writers to the world’s stage.
“I am excited to be bringing The Seven Dials Mystery to life, and to be introducing a new generation of iconic Christie characters to the screen,” said Mackie. “It has been a joy to work with Chris Chibnall in creating this bold, authored, and ambitious vision for the series. Together with Chris Sussman and Agatha Christie Limited and, under the masterful direction of Chris Sweeney, we are thrilled to embark on this creative journey. I could not think of a more exciting first project for Orchid Pictures, or a more perfect home for this story than Netflix.”
Christie’s great-grandson James Prichard executive produces through Agatha Christie Limited, which has managed the literary and media rights to Christie’s works throughout the world since 1955. “Bundle Brent is one of my great-grandmother’s raft of interesting, humorous, sharp, young female characters,” said Prichard. “To see her brought to life through the words of Chris Chibnall and this production with Orchid Pictures and Netflix is a dream come true. I think viewers will love this world that we have created, and hope for more.”
Andy Stebbing is also on board as an executive producer and Joanna Crow as series producer.
The series begins filming this summer! Keep coming back to Tudum to put more pieces of the mystery together.
