Don’t Miss Your Chance to Watch These Movies Leaving in August

Finish out summer with a family movie night starring Paddington, the Ninja Turtles, and Spider-Man.

August can be an emotional time, for numerous reasons. For students and teachers, it signals the end of summer break. For parents and those who love fall, it means a return to quieter, cooler times. Whether you’re counting down the days in frustration or anticipation, watching films with the family is a perfect way to spend the remaining days of summer — and Netflix has a few you’ll want to watch before the month ends.

If you have younger children, you can introduce them to Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which stars a singing crocodile (voiced by Shawn Mendes) who lives in New York and loves baths. Or, you could show them Paddington, starring the titular bear (voiced by Ben Whishaw) who navigates his new home in London while escaping an evil taxidermist, played by Nicole Kidman.

For kids who are a little older, try a family movie night of The Nutty Professor and its sequel, The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. In both films, Eddie Murphy stars as Sherman Klump, a lovable professor who develops a serum to drastically change his looks. The result is an alter ego he must (hilariously) fight in order to regain control of his own body. Speaking of fighting, you could also introduce your kids to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the 2014 movie and its 2016 follow-up.

Finally, if you have teens to entertain, you could make a whole weekend of it with five Spider-Man films: three starring Tobey Maguire as the friendly neighborhood web-slinger and two with Andrew Garfield portraying Peter Parker.

No matter what you decide to watch with your family — or by yourself — make sure you get the titles into your queue before it’s too late. Read on to see what else is leaving Netflix in the US in August.
