Ally Hunter, MPH shares important insights from #HIMSS24 addressing the digital divide in telehealth. Hunter, a virtual care consultant at Henry Ford Health, stressed the importance of digital equity - ensuring everyone has IT capacity for full participation. Her strategies include expanding #telehealth reimbursement, offering discounted broadband and increasing access to devices. Health apps need to cater to those with lower health literacy from the start. At Whereby, we support all initiatives that promote digital and telehealth equity, creating a more inclusive healthcare system. https://lnkd.in/ez8QvBuC

During the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth became a lifeline, ensuring safe and accessible healthcare from home. Thanks to swift legislative actions, remote care reached rural and underserved areas, showcasing its vital role in healthcare. Although #telehealth peaked during the pandemic, American Medical Association research shows that 74% of physicians still offer telehealth services—nearly three times the share in 2018. This highlights the lasting benefits of the temporary flexibilities introduced during the public health emergency. At Whereby, we are committed to the future of telehealth. While others may scale back, we are advancing innovative, user-friendly solutions to ensure patients receive high-quality, holistic care. Our platform bridges the gap between in-person and remote care, empowering healthcare providers to meet patients' needs effectively. Read more:

Recent news reveals Walmart is closing all 51 health centers and ending its virtual care services. This follows UnitedHealth's decision to shut down Optum Virtual Care, just three years after its launch. Despite these changes, the telehealth industry is far from over. Digital health leaders believe we're witnessing an evolution towards more integrated and holistic care. Robin Cherry Glass, president of Included Health, points out that the initial telehealth model didn't serve patients holistically or meet modern consumer expectations. The future lies in delivering comprehensive care and greater value for patients. At Whereby, we're committed to leading this next phase of #telehealth. While others may be scaling back, we're focused on providing advanced, user-friendly solutions that prioritize patient care and seamless integration. Our goal is to revolutionize virtual care, ensuring patients receive the highest quality service in a modern, holistic manner. Read more on Fierce Healthcare

A telehealth-based approach to reducing repeat asthma visits shows promising results, according to data from the recent Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting. This new initiative, led by Dr. Sean Frey, places a unique educational focus on children, empowering them to take an active role in managing their asthma from an early age. The TEACHH pilot study, which involved children aged 5-13 years, demonstrated that engaging kids through visual tools and telehealth sessions can improve their understanding and management of asthma. While the study was small, it highlighted the potential for better outcomes and higher quality of life for both children and caregivers. A larger trial is now being developed, and it will include primary care physicians and explore the optimal dose of telehealth intervention. At Whereby, we're excited about the future of telehealth and its potential to transform pediatric care 💛 Read more on Medscape.
