Meet the 4 hot new characters in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’

It looks like somebody is going to have to put an addition on Avengers Tower.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” finally opens Thursday, and it’s easily one of the season’s most anticipated releases. One of the draws? Fresh blood, and lots of it.

Writer-director Joss Whedon has said penning the script was incredibly challenging, in large part because of the massive cast of characters.

In addition to Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Nick Fury and the lot from previous Marvel films, new faces have been added to this sequel.

Here are four names you need to know.

Quicksilver

The Scarlet Witch’s brother (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) has been gifted with superspeed. And, as a result of complicated rights issues, the character has the distinction of appearing in both a Fox film (last summer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” played by Evan Peters) and a Marvel movie.

Scarlet Witch

The Gothy villain, played by Elizabeth Olsen, made a cameo appearance at the end of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” She was created by the evil Baron Wolfgang von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann) and has the powers of telepathy and telekinesis.

Vision

Paul Bettany, who previously supplied the voice for Iron Man’s trusty computer Jarvis, now earns a full-fledged costumed role as the android Vision. He’s created as a byproduct of the Avengers’ war with Ultron and goes on to fight alongside the heroes.

Dr. Helen Cho

The South Korean scientist (Claudia Kim) works with Bruce Banner and Tony Stark. She has a role in the birth of Vision. Also of note, in the comics, she’s the mother of Amadeus Cho, one of the smartest people in the Marvel universe and a Hulk ally.
