“American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson” isn’t set to premiere until 2016 — but the all-star lineup is ready to go.
Many high-profile celebs have signed on to the miniseries since executive producers Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy (“American Horror Story,” “Glee”) announced the program in October 2014. Selma Blair, Steven Pasquale and former “Sex and the City” star Evan Handler are all recent additions to the FX show.
How well do the actors match up with their real-world counterparts? Take a look at who’s been cast in the anthology series thus far.
Cuba Gooding Jr. as OJ Simpson
The “Jerry Maguire” star was the first actor cast for the miniseries as defendant OJ Simpson, who was famously acquitted for the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. He was later found liable for the wrongful deaths of both in a civil suit.
David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian
“Friends” alum Schwimmer accepted his first TV role in four years and will play Robert Kardashian, a good friend of Simpson and one of his attorneys. Simpson stayed in Kardashian’s home following the murders, and Kardashian was seen carrying Simpson’s garment bag that many believe may have contained the Juice’s bloodied clothes. At the time of the trial, Kardashian was divorced from his first wife, Kris Jenner. He died of esophageal cancer in 2003.
Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran
As longtime Assistant District Attorney Ron Carver on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” Vance is no stranger to the courtroom. He will take on the role of defense attorney Johnnie Cochran, who uttered the famous phrase, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.” Cochran died of a brain tumor in 2005.
John Travolta as Robert Shapiro
Travolta signed on to portray defense attorney Shapiro back in January — his first starring TV role since the 1970s’ “Welcome Back, Kotter.” The New Jersey-born lawyer has represented a number of celebrities besides Simpson, including José Canseco, Johnny Carson and Linda Lovelace. He’s also one of the co-founders of e-commercite site shoedazzle.com.
Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark
Beloved “American Horror Story” alum Paulson will appear in “American Crime Story” as head prosecutor Marcia Clark. After failing to convict Simpson, Clark resigned in 1997 and authored a book about the case, “Without a Doubt.” She has since published four crime novels and even dabbled in acting, with a brief turn as Attorney Sidney Barnes on “Pretty Little Liars.”
Sterling K. Brown as Christopher Darden
Brown, who’s had minor roles on “Army Wives” and “Person of Interest,” will appear in all 10 episodes as prosector Christopher Darden, who famously requested Simpson try on the bloody gloves during the trial.
Selma Blair as Kris Jenner
Before she was the queen of a reality TV empire, Kris Jenner was the ex-wife of OJ’s attorney Robert Kardashian and mother to his four children Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob. “Legally Blonde” actress Selma Blair will portray the pixie-haired vixen, who wed Bruce Jenner one month after divorcing Kardashian.
Connie Britton as Faye Resnick
Britton — another “AHS” alum — appears as Faye Resnick, a close friend of Brown’s who was living with her up until four days before the murder, before being admitted to a drug rehabilitation program. Simpson’s defense attempted to use Resnick’s addiction as a motive for the crimes, blaming hit men hired by drug dealers, who were owed money by Resnick. Resnick can currently be seen on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” as a friend of cast member Kyle Richards.
Steven Pasquale as Mark Fuhrman
Pasquale, best known for his stint on “The Good Wife,” is a recent addition to the cast as LAPD cop Mark Fuhrman. Fuhrman investigated the murders of Brown and Goldman and was convicted for perjury for testimony he gave during Simpson’s trial. He was the only person to be convicted of criminal charges in relation to the case.
Evan Handler as Alan Dershowitz
Handler, famous for his role as Charlotte’s husband, Harry Goldenblatt, on “Sex and the City,” will portray Alan Dershowitz, who served as the appellate adviser for the defense throughout the criminal trial.
Kelly Dowdle as Nicole Brown Simpson
The actress, who had a bit part in 2006’s “Big Momma’s House 2,” will portray victim Nicole Brown Simpson, who was brutally murdered on June 12, 1994.
Jordana Brewster as Denise Brown
The “Fast and the Furious” stunner will portray Denise Brown, Nicole’s sister, who testified seeing Simpson physically assault his wife. She later established the Nicole Brown Foundation for victims of domestic violence.
Kenneth Choi as Judge Lance Ito
The “Wolf of Wall Street” actor will play the judge who presided over the 1995 trial.
