Charging electric unicycle sparks Greenwich Village fire

It was one wheely bad fire.

A two-alarm fire that broke out in a Greenwich Village building Wednesday was caused by an electric unicycle that was charging at the scene, officials revealed Thursday.

The blaze broke out at 4:37 p.m on the fourth floor of a 10-story building at 99 University Place, where the one-wheeled contraption was plugged into an outlet, fire officials said.

More than 100 emergency workers rushed in to battle the fire, which was under control by 5:30 p.m., officials said.

Two firefighters were taken to Beth Israel Medical Center for minor injuries sustained in the fire, according to the FDNY.

The cause of the blaze was ruled accidental, officials said.
