NY state construction business has added 91K jobs since 2010

There’s no shortage of work for New York hard hats, as the state’s construction industry continues to thrive, new figures from the state comptroller show.

“While the nation has yet to recover all of the construction jobs it lost during the Great Recession, New York’s construction industry is booming,” the state’s top accountant, Thomas DiNapoli said. “In 2018, the construction industry was nearly 11 percent larger than it was 10 years earlier.”

The state’s construction business added 91,600 jobs between 2010 and 2018, hitting a high of 398,400 last year. Growth was strongest in New York City and its suburbs.
