Household cleaning hacks you’ll wish you already knew — this one common toiletry item is the key

This is no sweeping generalization.

In a viral TikTok clip from 2021 that has recently resurfaced, organizational expert and interior stylist Chantel Mila reveals that shaving cream can be used for much more than personal grooming.

In a video shared widely on the popular social media channel, Mila shared three home cleaning hacks using only shaving cream — and we’re wondering why we’re just now hearing about this.

Mila’s first, mindblowing suggestion — use shaving cream to clean a mirror.

“Buff onto mirrors for a streak-free shine + to prevent fogging (even after a shower!)” Mila wrote in white text on top of the clip, which showed her applying shaving cream onto a towel and scrubbing down a suddenly flawless-looking mirror.

Her next way to cleverly use shaving cream is by buffing it onto a stainless steel surface, to get everything looking squeaky-clean.

To boot, Mila promises that using the everyday toiletry item on stainless steel keeps fingerprints “away for longer.”

The last and final use for the bath product? Polishing your jewelry.

“It’s gentle and effective to keep jewelry shining, (apply and wash off),” Mila wrote, as she used some shaving cream to polish her engagement ring, making it look as good as new.

In the comments section of her video, many were impressed by the hack, with some wanting to try it out for themselves.

“Thank you for this!” one person wrote. “I’ve been wondering how to unfog my mirror and keep it streak-free!”

“Yay!!! I needed this in my life so much,” someone else typed. “Dollar store here I come!”

Another confirmed, “I’ve tried this and it definitely works on mirrors in the bathroom.”

The Post reached out to Mila’s representative for comment.

And, it looks like the content creator might be on to something here.

According to Apartment Therapy, shaving cream contains many of the same active ingredients that are found in household soaps — so it makes sense why it’s a great alternative.

Meanwhile, in March, pro cleaner Angela Donal warned others not to let their houses become a “bacterial war zone,” and suggested cleaning every single day.

“Every day we should clean,” the Peachy Clean founder told South West News Service at the time. “Cleaning is an essential part of your life.”

She even suggested hiring a professional cleaner if you’re not able to get it all done by yourself.

“Every house needs one good clean a week due to bacteria spreading,” she said.
