‘Extremely dangerous and violent’ felon who fatally stabbed his mom at 13 escapes from custody for third time

A convicted mom-killer and serial escape artist has done it again, walking away from a California halfway house where he was supposed to stay after a judge cut him loose.

Ike Souzer, 20, described by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office as an “extremely dangerous and violent” offender who stabbed his mother to death when he was just 13, was set free on Wednesday after pleading guilty to felony vandalism.

Souzer was sentenced to 90 days in jail, followed by two years of probation — but Orange County Superior Court Judge Larry Yellin gave him time served.

Prosecutors “strongly objected” to the lenient punishment in light of Souzer’s violent criminal history, which, in addition to murdering his mom, also included attacking three correctional officers and making a shank while in jail, according to the DA’s statement.

After his sentencing, Souzer checked into the Sana Ana-based halfway house Project Kinship, but then took off and never returned. He did not tell his probation officer where he was headed.

“This individual should be considered extremely dangerous and violent,” prosecutors warned.

“Do not approach. If you see him, call 911 immediately.”

Project Kinship is the same place Souzer escaped from in April 2022.

In that case, the then-18-year-old Souzer removed his GPS bracelet and fled within hours of arriving at the halfway house. Following a countywide manhunt, he was busted a few days later at a homeless encampment in Anaheim.

Souzer was convicted of slaughtering his mother, Barbara Scheuer-Souzer, in 2017, when he was 13 years old. He stabbed her multiple times with a knife and left her to bleed out on the ground outside their home.

Before succumbing to her wounds, police said Scheuer-Souzer, 48, was able to identify her son as her killer.

In 2019, Souzer managed to sneak out of his locked room at the Orange County Juvenile Detention Center and climb over the perimeter fence in the middle of the night.

He was recaptured the same day at a McDonald’s in Anaheim.

Orange County prosecutors warned Thursday that Souzer poses “a significant public safety threat.”
