Ex-Ranger Vladimir Tarasenko provided dagger to Blueshirts in Game 6

Highlights and lowlights from the Rangers 2-1 season-ending loss to the Panthers on Saturday night in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final:

1. Vladimir Tarasenko

It was cruel irony for the Rangers that the backbreaking goal in this game came from a player they acquired at the trade deadline last season who ended up dealt to Florida this time around.

2. Sam Bennett

Bennett’s first-period goal ended up being the only scoring for a while in this one, and took the wind out of the Rangers’ sails following a hot start.

3. Sergei Bobrovsky

The Panthers’ goalie was never asked to do as much as his counterpart in this series, but delivered exactly what was needed on Saturday.

Quote of the day

“You’re expecting to come in here tonight, win a hockey game and bring it back to MSG for a Game 7. So there’s a disappointment that goes with that.”
